Greenbee, sorry to hear about your Dad. This is a very difficult time. Deal with it how you feel is right for you. Everyone has different ways of coping. You are so right to be generous with his belongings, they won't bring him back and they aren't him. You are already further down the grieving track to recognise that. Take care of yourself and your family.0

Sorry to hear about your dad (greenbee) xI have only just started to relax after a mega busy day which ended with a Xmas fayre for dd1. We took the decision to do a mini tombola with a prize every time. We had some good prizes mix in with a load of my surplus craft stock that I really wanted shut of. (It goes back and forth and I some times only shift one or two things. As fast I was making up little packs they were going. It all went and I am happy dd has hit her fundraising target but more so with the fact it has gone and the joy it is bringing me!
Great result tibawo - both on the fundraising and getting rid of surplus items! :T
Not expecting much happening here this weekend - I have raised glands in my neck and a sore throat and alternate between being really hot and really coldTwo items sold on fleabay yesterday, though - will at least try and get them packed up for Monday. Also have 2 items on local fbk pages which people have asked for but not turned up to collect
 - so have messaged both to see if they are still interested. Oh - and I have a too-small Xmas jumper of DS3's which I'd like to drop off at CS if I can persuade OH to do that for me

Greetings. Number 1 (and only) son and I are on the train to Cardiff for uni open day.
Yesterday was christmas shopping. What a load of tat there is for sale. Yesterday was shopping for the 'hangers on' - nieces and nephews, friends children and so on. I have got them all vouchers but decided to put them in little Christmas stockings. I made these last night and if I say so myself they are rather fine. Each has a few sweeties and a candy cane, a nail varnish ( these are for girls) and a scratch card (for the older ones) alongside the voucher. I am well pleased with them. My siblings have a little gift bag with either a meal out or cinema voucher plus port and baileys miniatures each. The one, much younger , nephew got a football annual with his voucher. Very happy with this.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Kondo'd a load of recycling. Our Council recycling involves a large plastic box for all except paper and card, which goes in a plastic wooven sack. Ours went missing within a month and attemps to get replacements failed (there was only so many times I was prepared to ring and email the council about it, I gave up).
Recently a friend gave me a good plastic crate but the paper n card was still a problem to bag-up (bags for pedal bin rip too easily).
Last week I noticed a neighbour wrestling with several of the dry cleaner's flimsy covers for dresses etc, putting them in her household rubbish. Hmmm, a good big poly bag, thought I. I asked if I could have them for my recycling and she gave me the 5 she had. That'll do until well into next yearThankfully the recycling collectors are happy to take the paper n card in plastic bags .
I kondo'd a very pretty bracelet to a friend's 14 y.o daughter yester. I had stashed a few bits of costume jewellery away as potential gifts when I kondo'd that category ages ago, and this is just right for her for xmas. I put it in a suitable but plain box and lined the lid so it looked really nice - presentation is important , isn't it?:D
I lunched wiih friends (a very tasty salad!) and they both commented on my weight loss and my re-gaining a nice shape. Of course that spurred me on and I shall revisit clothes again next week.
As I was choosing what to wear for the lunch I was shocked to find that I have ony 2 skirts that are not dangerously loose now so the others need reviewing to see whether they re worth getting altered. Truthfully, i am certain most are long past their best and will be evicted. More space, lovely space, shall materialise!
Of course, getting a little boost from my friends meant I was also fired up to do my exercises last evening (who knew I'd be able to do a plank, me??! OK, only 45 seconds but i did it!).
So, onwards and upwards!
Fen, we still want you describe one joyful item, please - an accessory, a garment, a picture, a pet!?

Sorry to hear about your dad, Greenbee. The funeral directors won't bat an eyelid at the sailing clothes, I think that's a lovely idea - and great to think of the clothes he no longer needs warming some people over Christmas.
Completely agree about the tat in the shops, VJsmum. So far I've managed to do my Christmas shopping entirely online but I'm going to have to venture forth for some stocking fillers soon and I'm dreading it.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Greenbee so sorry to hear about your Dad, but love the idea of the sailing clothes and other clothes to a homeless charity. Hugs.

I have finished st nicolas wrapping while dd1 was at horse riding class and dd2 was having a bath. Have given the suitcase full of gifts to our neighbour, who will leave it in front of our door at 17.30 tonight, knock hard on door and window and make himself scarce
(pretending he's st nicolas or one of the helpers in a hurry to drop all the gifts off). We are celebrating early this year, because I have to work late on the actual evening. It's mainly useful presents for dh and I: new steel colander, pancake knife, fancy coffee and tea, good brand curry pastes, etc. Dds get two main gifts, a ticket to
Little Red Riding Hood musical, and some small toys. I have done myself the favour of it being gifts only; traditionally, half of the gifts need to be accompanied by a hm poem describing recipient and gifts and relating some embarrassing event that happened in the last year. Additionally, some of the gifts need to be 'surprises', similar to 'pass the parcel', 'treasure hunt', covered in gooey, diguised as something else, etc. I am the only one for four people! Next year, dds can help me
I have done the mandatory bi-annual meter reading (the other year a guy from the elec and gas company comes by to do the reading) and filled it in on their website.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
What is it about no good deed going unpunished? The lady I contacted who wanted the wood ash for her chickens collected it while I was out .........and left me a thank you note .....and a pot plant!!!! Very kind thought but now I have to look after it and water it lol. Had a convo with DH this afternoon - I have a small collection of some pretty porcelain - some gifted and some DH bought me. As we intend to incorporate our kitchen and dining room he said I should get rid of it as it wouldn't suit what we have in mind. I was gobsmacked! I'd wanted it to go but thought he'd be offended. Yipee. Just had a look on the bay of e and it's collectable and pricey so it's going !Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Evening all.
silvasava, the DH has been infected with kondo-itis, it's a severe outbreak of woo. Nice one. And the china can go live with someone else, who will find it joyful, and you can have space and some money, too.
mavvymoo, well done on the sale, you must be the talking point of the community, getting so much good Stuff back into circulation. How are the kittens, btw? Thriving, I hope.
News from the parental home is that a week's course of antibiotics has been decluttered down the throat of the Queen of Sheba, the haughtiest of the two parental mogs. She has been unimpressed, to say the least, and has been avoiding Mum, whose lap she normally sits on for a few hours a day, as she has been the agent of this offence to feline dignity. I'm sure all will be forgiven in due course, but some grade A sulking is needed first.;)
One of the things which came down out of the parental loft gosh-knows how many months ago was a large bag containing kid bruv's martial arts kit. Two of those white cotton suits, belts, knee and foot protectors etc etc. These had survived at least two of my famous passages through Attica due to his feeling that he might just take this hobby up again.
I'd queried the likelihood of this after a 15 year absence, but he's finally bitten the bullet. One of the two cotton gi is good enough to donate, one is for ragging, but all the protective kit has perished and rotted and died in storage and is fit only for the landfill bin. Exactly as I feared would be the case.
Three books back to the library, and two out, so I reckon I'm winning.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
