Just thought I would add my input Fen. I am always comparing myself to others and feeling a failure at life, I look at how many years debt has been like a cold I just could not shift. I have culled my clothes but still have a drawer full of the ones for the new me. I am not ready to let them go yet but have tackled so many others areas, one of my big achievements is not buying bargains that aren't really and I Am about to give away a jumper to a local homeless place. This was hard as it held so many memories, I have worn it once in nine years and have talked myself round in this jumper might be the thing that keeps someone going over the winter. I hope the warmth of my happy memories in it help someone to get them back on their feet. I am putting this tale on here not for a pat on my back but to assure you that small steps and really looking back on things you can see that you have achieved and maybe not the failure we often perceive ourselves to be.Don’t put it down - put it away!

My dad died on Tuesday, and we're sorting through his clothes (slowly, as I don't want my mother to give away things she'll regret later). Having found the stuff we want him to wear (not sure what the undertakers will thing - its not his best suit, but his scruffy old sailing clothes!), we're going to start slowly clearing out by finding things to give to the local homeless charity. I spoke to them, and they need socks, gloves, hats, trousers, jumpers, coats etc. I also said we'd drop them off in batches so they're not inundated - they've had lots of sleeping bags, duvets and pillows in so are short of storage space.0

The school has put in a request for toys to send to a children's charity to provide for children who don't / can't celebrate St Nicolas or Christmas. I'll ask dds tonight which toys we will donate, to make space for the new toys they will get tomorrow night.

Ah Greenbee - so sorry. I know it was expected but it doesn't help the loss. Do love that your Dad will be in his old sailing clothes - just the way he liked to be. Huge Hugs xxSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

(((((((((greenbee))))))))) thinking of you at this sad time. And I love the idea of your Dad in his sailing clothes, too, and the useful stuff with the homeless charity.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
