:) 80 degrees is a useful temperature, many conservatories end up far too hot to be useful for at least some of the year.

As an ardent gardener, I would always want a south-facing garden myself. A pal of mine shopped for the biggest south-facing garden she could get at her price range in a certain area; the actual house was less important to her than the garden, you see.

Mind you, my allotment isn't shaded at all and is superb for growing veggies.

The garden isn't one for veggies I think, however the allotments are only about 100 yards away if we get the urge!

So true.. during the summer "shut the door it's too hot"

During the winter "shut the door it's too cold"

I have a conservatory that faces south, gets far too hot in there for comfort. It is freezing during the winter when the sun doesn't shine, leaks through the light fittings and is generally horrible. It's going to be demolished next year as I would rather use the space to sit outside and have some pots with veggies, flowers, etc.

I have to get a demolition certificate from building control with drawings of what is going to replace it. Considering it looks a complete eyesore at the moment, anything is an improvement.

My sun room faces south but having a proper tiled roof it keeps a lot of the heat out during the summer. We learned that lesson from the heat issues in the north facing conservatory on the previous house! In the winter on a sunny day it warms up nicely, I open the door to my office which sits behind it and get free heating. Hoping for that today, lovely sunny morning but darned frosty out.

My conservatory faces south west and gets hot as soon as the sun shines on it. Great to sit in the evening. When it is too hot to sit in then I am outside in the garden anyway. The grandkids treat it like a giant toy box when they visit but at least the toys and lego etc stay in one place.

My back garden faces east but we have a thirties house and the garden is nearly 200ft long so the end of it is never in shade and I grow my fruit and veg there. We've never put up a conservatory because the back of the house is in shade in the evening when we would be more likely to use it. On a sunny evening we sit on a small patio halfway down the garden and sunny dayswe breakfast and lunch on the patio at the back of the house. TBHi would prefer a West facing back garden!

Kondo'd a pile of mice-chewed envelopes from the garage to the recycling along with some chewed tissue paper and puffy plastic packaging. Aiming to tackle a shelf or more in there a day at the mo (sooo cold and also have other stuff in the diary). Mice are still ignoring the peanut butter baited traps :(:(

Also got rid of a pair of DS2 pjs (washing machine ate one of the legs - grr) and a pair of socks which are cute to look at but have uncomfortable non slip bumps on the bottom and cut off circulation in my ankles as the elastic in them is too tight! :D

:) Got a freegler after a couple of items which have been listed for about three weeks with no interest. I'd almost given up on them being wanted by someone. They're not 100% sure they're suitable, so I left it that they can come to the outdoor hidey-hole, check them out and take/ reject as they will.

Be good to get them into use somewhere, slightly damaged and likely to be rejected by a chazzer, hence them not going there.

Other than that, I am trundling on through the supplies of scrap paper and scrappy pencils in the workplace and slooowly starting to thin things out at the homestead.

Keep up the good work, lovely peeps, and good luck to all of us. x

Just collected DH xmas pressie. I had a poster framed and it looks really good!

Bought another t-shirt into play. It fits nicely now and is a lovely deep blue and brings joy. Swapped an incorrect bra for 2 sports bras yester. It took me a while to get the right fit! Not only have I lost weight but it's ages since I thought about my proper bra size. I actually checked on how to measure properly and took advice. It turned out that I needed a size down but a cup size up.
I was doubtful about the sports bra fitting but, wow, it is great, best fit I've ever had :T So no excuse, have been jazzing about following my new exercise dvd. Just having a little rest now :)

I am finally beginning to get real joy from clothes :D For most of my life they have just been functional, bought only when I desperately needed something new, and very few garments were joyful. I think I may to take on more work so I can start to get the 'wardrobe' I really want!

As an aside, today's jobs, as well as cleaning, included
grocery shopping for a temporarily house-bound lady,
assembling and trying out a steam mop,
making a phonecall to book an appointment,
    re-potting a plant,
    cleaning bird feeders,
replacing a bulb in a light fitting,
    opening a jar
    and ordering a turkey!
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
