Afternoon all
Greenbee so sorry to read about your dad.
Hugs to all who need/want them.
Got the last of the magazines that need cycling out of the attic, down to the last carrier bagful. So should be rid of all of them by the end of the week.
We are trying to give only wanted or usable gifts from now on.
Told DD her wedding present is cash that's ready to go Lin her bank when she wants it.
Got three of the kids one of thems GF and us concert tickets for birthdays and Christmas seeing frank turner will give me such a feeling of woo on Friday I can't wait.
I tend to get step mum gardening things or wild bird food which she uses.
Dad will get a bottle and whatever item of clothing step mum says he needs.
God DD is abroad so gets money sent to help with her travels.SPC~12 ot 124

Evening all.
Thinking of greenbee at this difficult time. It's hard to keep on going with the everyday stuff when you want and need to be elsewhere. But regular life just doesn't stop for the harrowing events around family ill-health.
Mum and Dad took a day out from the clearance of Nan's bungalow; their car was booked for a service and repairs, Mum was exhausted and needed to rest. I joined them that evening after work and we put a silly fluffy movie on the telly and watched something inane to lighten our spirits. Hearing us roaring with laughter with Nan dying only six days prior, you might have thought what a heartless bunch, but it was nothing of the sort, just a desperately needed couple of hours of distraction.
When life gets tough, we also need to look after ourselves, physically and emotionally. I hope you get to your pilates class or a run in the next few days.
Been to work and came home again, as you do. Have spent a little time checking over the two CD-radio-cassette players from Nan. The bigger one if a better make and sounds a bit better, so I am keeping that for Justin Case.
Actually, I am keeping it for a (probably) short time period, as the present incumbent is 20 years old in the spring and has some quirks. As in, sometimes it just won't turn on at all, or will suddenly turn itself off in the middle of a CD or when I'm listening to the radio. I like my sony CD-radio-cassette player a lot, we've been through a lot together, but it's probably heading towards its end.
Have got the P hillps replacement cleaned and stashed in a pillowcase on an out-of-the-way shelf in my bedroom so it won't be all dusty when I need it. The other, cheaper one is still in good nick and will be going to BHF at some point this week.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Greenbee My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Thanks for all the support. We're getting stuff done slowly to (hopefully) stop my dad worrying and make sure my mum doesn't run into too many difficulties. She's shattered (he's having lots of visitors, so she's doing coffee, lunch, tea etc and a few people are staying overnight/coming for supper - but we've made her keep this to a minimum telling people that they don't have spare beds as they're made up for family who may appear at anytime depending on progress). Community nurse and macmillan visited today - macmillan are the first people who have asked how she is coping.
It's hard being 200 miles away, but thankfully she has lovely neighbours - they've only been there for a few years but some of them are now good friends. They have a friend coming for supper tomorrow as it is both the anniversary of the friend's husband's death and of my parents moving to the village (different years). She's been making them soup and cakes to feed all their visitors, and has been a huge help emotionally and practically to my mother as she has been through it all herself fairly recently (but long enough ago to be able to be supportive).
Must try to cram all the boring stuff into the next two weeks so I can then forget about them. So dentist and car service are done, and it will be a relief when the boiler is fixed as there is then nothing I need to be here for.0 -
Did a tip run between clients today. Fairly big bag of non-recyclables and wallpaper strippings!
My carboot looks tidy again
today's work included setting up, testing, demonstrating and explaining a new phone & answerphone combo to my oldest client, aged 90, mending a lamp (non electrical repair needed!) and finding a pair of glasses, hearing aid batteries and a library book!
Off tomorrow, out to lunch with a friend so any kondo-ing will be later in the day. Have to revisit swimming costumes. One has gone already but I have 2 more old ones and today, forgive me, I bought another and I LOVE IT! Definite joy bringer). I am sure at least one will be released, maybe both the old ones, which were only kept because there was no alternative!
MI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Large stacking hi-fi unit given to builder's young mate tonight. Builder was going to have it for his yard but youngster rather liked the look of it although I'm not sure he knows what a cassette is! I got the system from a freegler so it feels good to pass it on.
The kitchen units have been advertised on freegle, they would do someone a good turn in a garage or shed. If I can give the away it would save a skip!0 -
Greenbee, sorry to hear about your dad. I agree with others, you can't fill a vessel from an empty pot so look after yourself, get some sleep and exercise This is a time to disregard anything that isn't essential, your priority is your dad (and mum). Best wishes to you.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

Still trying to persuade dh to go through the electronics in the top drawer of the set of drawers! Now that I have made my mind up, I want the thing gone!
With the re-arrangement of dh's shaving tackle in the bathroom drawer, I can put some more stuff (few items of make-up, hairbrush and comb, creams) from the windowsill into the same drawer. Just mulling over how to do it exactly, to have the most benefit from it. I like an empty bathroom! Items we use every day can stay on the windowsill, anything else has to be out of sight.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
My boss, in her usual concerned and sympathetic way, seems to think my end of year review is a priority...
Just warned the boiler people that I may have to cancel at short notice. It needs a repair as the expansion chamber has failed. They can't fit it in any earlier, and if I have to cancel later may be an issue.
I also have next week's conference to deal with. Once my car service and dental appointment (Thursday) are dealt with, and the conference and the boiler repair are done, I can move myself up to my parents' and stay there.
however, I've just had a flash of inspiration - I have friends whose house sale and purchase fell through and are currently living with parents. They may be available to house sit.0 -
House sitting friends sounds like a win-win situation, greenbee
Small bag (3 items) dropped off at CS of things which didn't sell on fleabay - as they are a (worn once) pair of Nine West shoes, a Mango dress and a Jojo Maman item I'm hoping they'll have better luck
2 (successful!) fleabay parcels posted today
