KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Comments

  • I just spent half an hour polishing with a duster around the house and cleaning the bathroom and general tidying up. Wow, my house was more mucky than I realised.:o

I threw some stuff including mouthwash bottle, empty loo roll holders etc... into recycling bin. I am going to use up some baby lotion and a new face scrub on my feet as the scrub makes me have a rash on my face. I think I will use them both on my feet before bed and put socks on all night as it's getting colder.

I have had a problem with sensitive teeth (I realised it was my toothbrush) but have ended up with loads of toothpaste as I even got some special stuff from my dentist. 8 tubes in all! I will have to work my way through them, lol.

I'm about to do the vacuuming and then I will look in the fridge to make lunch. It will be a use it up day with veg, noodles, quorn fillet and some sweet chili sauce and other stuff. I know it's early for lunch but the clocks going back have confused me.:D

Kondo'd YS mushrooms into soup - will take some to friend tomorrow.

Work today was not quite as demanding as last week although one client has recommended me to a relative so now I am deliberating about whether I want to do more hours. Well, if the truth be told I don't want to do more hours!! The fact that this other person lives further away would also add to my travelling time and expenses. I am, it seems, inclined to turn down extra work :D

PS - the hard hat has not returned, assume itnis in MIL's bin!

I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

:) Good news about the hard hat, MMF. Nice to see the back of something.

Just had a chat with the folks and they are slowly getting out from under Nan's possessions. They live in a market town with all the usual suspects in terms of chain chazzers and have pretty much had to spread their bounty far and wide to avoid overwhelming them.

Mum told me tonight that she is feeling claustrophobic with Stuff. Stuff in general, not just Nan's temporary Stuff. Stuffocation, was how she described it. :rotfl:

I offered moral and practical support in getting rid of it but pointed out that most of the Stuff in the family home is actually her belongings, so she has to make the decision to release things.

I think she may have possibly had an epiphany; most people don't come out of the experience of clearing a deceased person's home feeling quite the same way about their own Stuff.

Since the car will be coming up on Sunday, I have invited them to chuck any un-donateds into it and offload them chez moi as I live in a city centre with more charity shops than you can shake a stick at, and will get it outta here a bagful or a boxful at a time.

Sounds as if you need to start recruiting. I think GQ should apply for the vacancy ;)

I've been reading about her exploits and thinking that's interesting, but I do enjoy my job plus, as it's indoor work with no heavy lifting, it's more suitable for someone with ME.

I am extending my bossy remit to my pal's [STRIKE]junk shop [/STRIKE] err very-reasonably-priced-antique-ish emporium.I bullied a lot of paperwork into submission at the weekend.Left him with a to-do list for today but would be very surprised it he has to-done any of it.

You can lead a horse to water but some people need to be beaten around the head with a lead pipe, as the old saying has it, n'est-ce que pas?:rotfl:

When ever I hear that proverb it reminds me of the Dorothy Parker quip when challenged to come up with a sentence including the word "horticulture" quick as a flash she said "you can lead a wh*re to culture but you can't make her think"

Another time a younger (prettier) woman stood aside for her in a doorway saying sweetly "age before beauty" she swanned through, snapping "pearls before swine"

Talk about an acid tongue that one! But you've got to admire her quickwitedness
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I liked the reply to someone who was biting a pearl to see if it was real. "For that to work you need real teeth!" ;)

I love the term 'stuffocation' GQ!

Taken a bagfull of glass to the bottle bank after all my clearing out yesterday, mostly from opened jars of condiments and very out of date herbs and spices. Feels good to see the cupboards so un-cluttered.

Love Dorothy Parker - I get a daily quote from her on FB.

I seem to have rather stupidly broken my toe (getting out of the bath.... would you believe). for someone who walks everywhere this is rather a problem, but not much to be done except wait. I can walk on the side of my foot, but probably shouldn't do it too much. Am cross with myself for my stupidity and awkwardness....

Did manage to Kondo leaves from the garden - woke up to a carpet of red and yellow on our lawn, beautiful.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
