Mavvy, I am loving your updates on Lolly, hope she goes from strength to strength.

Dragonette, well done on improved mobility. A real success!

Well, I had a sort of High Noon here today. Put kettle on, went to look at those cupboards while it boiled, and almost without me knowing it, all the contents went on the bed and the cupboards went into the hall.

Loving the space and wonder how it will feel tonight going to bed, which at least has now been cleared but now of course I have heaps of stuff at the foot of it which will need sorting asap...

Also need a plan to get rid of cupboards....

Thank you all for the encouragement, you have helped me keep cheerful and def helped me to get to a turning point for my health :)

Serendipitious Yay for all the extra space :) I'm sure you will find the perfect home for things

Mavvy wow thats a lot of animals, fingers crossed they don't do anything too stressful (hah, I've had my share of feral and stray animals!)

The friend I've been helping with his hoarding issues has decided his cat needs to go back to the family's place out of the city - the fluffy monster is no longer happy about being indoors only now (and all of us warned his parents against making an outdoors cat live indoors only). Unsurprisingly, the building work in the flat has lead to the cat being super destructive and it is very deliberate. The move will be better for both of them. A cat that refuses to use a litter tray and varies where he toilets every time is a nightmare to live with, and my friend has severe MH issues and the cat's distress impacted him quite significantly

When I went to put my new shiny jewellery away, I found that I'm happy to clear out more pieces of jewellery :) so that joyful purchase can rest easy in the knowledge it didn't sabotage the kondoing!
:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A
  • Grrr. Just went to use the shredder and the b*%%!y thing has stopped working. It hasn't even been used for a month; I put it away when a visitor needed the spare room. Got it out just now and it's died. This was the new shredder that replaced the previous shredder that had to be sent back, which replaced the previous one that died. I will have to check receipts to see if I can send this back but the box is long gone of course. I'm not feeling very MK today. It's confidential stuff from work so I need to dispose of it, I just don't think 'home' shredders ever work. I'm going for a walk to Kondo my bad mood!

Polly it may be worth looking at Swordfish as a brand of shredder. I have a Cross Cut 1500XCD. They aren't cheap, but I've had mine about 3 years now. I work from home and quite a lot goes through it, plus I Kondo'd a huge amount of paperwork earlier in the year and it handled it really well. You can also shred CDs with it. It just needs a few drops of shredder oil running through the blades every time you empty the bin.

I'd previously had several Fellowes shredders and broke them all.

Polly spray a sheet of paper with WD40 and feed it through in an attempt to resuscitate it.

:) I do this whenever I empty my shredder, and have also resustitated labouring shredders belonging to others, including office models. It really helps, they work hard and seldom get any TLC.

Have idly been kondo-ing a few small paper piles around the flat and getting more stuff out to the recycling bins. Order is sloooowly speading. Don't feel like doing much tonight as going down with a cold, but a good night's sleep should go part way towards fixing that.

  • Thanks for the tips, but it's completely dead, not jammed. I'll look at Swordfish - I'm frustrated because this is the third shredder I've had, I just don't think the ones sold for home use are up to the job. I'm not shredding industrial quantities of stuff. I'll find the receipt and see how long I've had it and whether I can return it. Harrumph.

I haven't done much the past few days as I've been so shocked by the Leave result! I won't get into that subject on this thread.:D I'm sure most of us have heard and read enough about that.

I was in bed last night watching a film and at the advert breaks getting up and pottering around tidying up and looking for stuff to declutter. I can't be the only person who does that although my hubbie thinks it's strange, lol.

I found some more stuff in a cupboard that I thought I had thrown away so that was bagged up today as it can't be recycled.

    I hope everyone is okay.:)

    Morning all
Polly it's not the fuse in the plug or a loose wire is it?

Spent a rather frustrating two days looking for a bucket of buttons, I've rather rashly promised some to school and a fellow crafter I work with. It's just not forthcoming, Dh seems to thing I may have already Kondoed it but I can't recall it, I know I gave some to best friend when she came over at Christmas but haven't a clue where the tub has gone. I've even searched this thread to see if I've mentioned giving it away such is my brain fog.

Oh well time for work and to admit to her I still can't find it.

    Have a good day all.
