KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Remember my magic attic, where everything that might come in handy gets stored? Including clothes we are given for dds for the next 10 years, and stuff for dh's African relatives? Well, a friend has bought a small truck to send to Africa, to make a profit. He is filling it with donations for his relatives, and still has space left, which he offered to us! So I spent 3 hours in the attic yesterday, going through ALL bags and boxes of clothes, taking out all the black, beige, kaki, dark-coloured clothes for donation (my dds are half African, and I prefer it if they wear lighter and cheerful colours). Two bags full are ready for ragging (remember my mouse-saga?
)
I repacked the clothes I'm keeping into 3 larger boxes, which are now easily accessible. 9 I'kea bags and several smaller bags/boxes were emptied and the huge pile of clothes is now waiting to be packed into clean oil drums. The oil drums cost 25 euros each, and can be sold at the other end. They are great for transporting goods safely: no vermin or water can enter, and they seal well and with a lock.
My DH has been buying material for the house we are building in his home country, and that will be sent, too. Our house will be lighter for it!Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -

I have a skip outside with my old kitchen in it and will then need another one for the two ponds the previous owner left me!!!
Two bags of books, a bag of dvds, a toaster,a kettle, a microwave and a fridge have been kondoed and also a couple of bags filled with plates, bowls, glasses etc and later in the week a sofa will be taken away as well. I even lined some boxes with towels I don't want so got rid of them too.
I have lots of boxes still to unpack but will sort through the ones in the conservatory first to clear space and decide what stays and what goes. After that is done I have an integral garage full of boxes to sort out, even if I just label them for "keep" or "go" it will be such a weight off my mind.
Eventually I want the conservatory to be a dining area and a nice seating area and the integral garage to be cleared with some storage for things I don't use every day but want to keep and find easily. DD can have her exercise bike back for a start! Once cleared out the space would make a nice garden room !!! playroom for grandchildren in the future.
In the next week I hope to get rid of the gravel and weeds, dead bushes and poorly laid wood paving in the back, not to mention the fish ponds and a shed and deck area that looks dodgy so that eventually I will have a low maintenance but pretty area to sit with a raised bed or two for rose bushes etc. SIL is already planning where a barbecue could go and where I should place a swing seat so I can relax and read outside."This site is addictive!"

Well done Siebrie and Elona, you are both amazing! :T
No Kondo-ing today* but glad to report weight stayed the same while on holiday, despite 2 cheats. Back to Atkins today. Want to kondo a few pounds in the next 10 days because we are off for (another) long weekend soon. Don't usually have so many breaks but the opportunity arose and, darn it, you only live once so we grabbed it!
* Happy to be able to put 2 loads of laundry away at a client's home, into the drawers I kondo'd for her a few months back. It all looked lovely. I actually have drawer envy because it's a lovely old BIG COD, with great deep drawers! My COD is an Ikeya one, perfectly OK but not in the same league as a beautifully made, solid wood one. My client said that she feels more in control now that clothing etc is sorted out and all located in appropriate, easy to access places - how good is that?!
Have a lovely evening Everyone,

But when I finally decided to let them go, I looked through them and had quite a shock. There were cards from couples who had since divorced, cards from people I no longer saw and had no intention of seeing, and inevitably there were cards from older relatives who had passed on. Some cards had yellowed, the glitter had tarnished on others, and the decals on a few of them had just fallen off as the glue perished. It was ever so easy to let them go, my only regret was I hadn't done it sooner.
Same. Just had our silver wedding but got rid of wedding and engagement cards last year. No pangs. Also 18th and 21st cards
Also havent got silver wedding cards. Except one that someone hand sewed. But I wish I could....
Also wish I could kondo Glastonbury mud......I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Have just caught up on this thread - well done everyone, what fantastic achievements.
I was very sorry to ready about iQueen. May she rest in peace.
Good for you, mavvy, for taking in poor little lolly and looking after her so well.
I have not done much this year, as various viruses and attacks of Real Life (sometimes running concurrently) have got in the way, but have done bits of paperwork as and when it was possible.
Did anyone have a virus that made even chocolate taste vile? Weird or what.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

I think I'm going to kondo two entire cupboards, contents and all...
Changed bedding this morning, difficult as always, it's awkward because of the presence of two cupboards that look nice enough but they leave little room to move along one side of the room.
So, as they annoy me twice a day getting in and out of bed, and are even more annoying when I change the bed, I think they'd best go. Problem is they are full!! So I think that's my July challenge identified....“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
Kondoed the bread maker into the cupboard now there is space in there so work surfaces look much better. Kondoed some old tatty baking tins onto the metal collection at the top of the drive -still waiting for a scrap man to come and collect it..
Another 2 bags of paper recycling have left the lounge this morning.
Ds2s two friends had woken up by the time I got home from work and have just gone home, does that count as kondoing?
Hope everyone is well.SPC~12 ot 124
