Have missed a couple of days checking in due to RL (nice RL for a change!) and just reading through now. ATypical Blonde - that's a great story. And you've perked me up enough to carry on with my own efforts. I work full time at a particularly stressful job and got to the point of asking for a reduction in hours (chronic pain and stress) and they were dragging their feet on an answer. I nearly gave up but something kept me in there, appealing each "no" until they said yes. Once I knew I was definitely going to be cutting down to a four day week I panicked a bit. But you know - KM has been a godsend in this. If I stop buying "stuff" then I won't need as much money to live on. And Kondoing bags and bags of stuff this week has confirmed that I have way too much stuff already. Am now looking forward to the change with unadulterated pleasure as a true stress beater and not something to worry about. Sorry if this isn't making a lot of sense - one of the things stress does is make me incoherent!! So thanks to KM and thanks to all of you posting on here as you've been a huge encouragement xx
    Looking ahead

Thanks for this, greent - I suspected that might be the case for the modern mint ones. Have you steamed the used ones off the envelopes, or are you leaving them on?

Once I retire, I'll take what I've got to a couple of local tourist towns where a lot of antique-y shopping gets done, I'll see if any of the dealers are interested. Some of the unused ones are fairly elderly to be called modern, though I know they are - the denominations give it away, 10.5p, anyone :rotfl:

Letters are still making their way to the shredding bin :D

I have a large pile of steamed off ones. Any which weren't steamed off I gave to a charity collecting them for fundraising - quick and easy win. The vast majority of mine are in albums or sorted by country into envelopes when I couldn't get any more matching albums:o

I need to just get over it and take them into town when I know the dealer is in (he's not there every day - I've already emailed and discussed them with him) - for some reason it's become a bit of a hurdle!

I just finished swapping over to the new space saving coat hangers and they look really good. My wardrobe didn't take too long to do, but my DH has so many :)

Do you mind if I ask what the space saving coat hanger s are, my wardrobe could really do with them, have already taken loads to charity shop but still not enough space for everything?

Sandy not sure if they are the same ones as Wednesday means but I got some of the thin flock/velvet covered ones. They a much slimmer than normal hangers and things don't fall off them. In Ts they ar 20 for £10 and wilkinsons have bundles of 5 for £3. The wilkinsons ones are a bit dearer but they are a slightly different design and seem a bit better quality. The basic shape/quality is the same but the wilkinsons ones have an extra support bar across the part below the hook for hanging matching scarf/ belt on.

    :) Afternoon all.

Well, I'm on a freegle roll. Listed a whole load of Stuff from the parental home late yesterday afternoon and was soon brokering pick-ups.

Three things were left in the outside hidey-hole whilst I was at work and one pick-up has already happened. A fourth item is due to be collected on someone's way home from work and something else is scheduled to leave on the weekend.

My city centre address is quite handy for freeglers because a lot of people work in the centre or come in once a week for shopping, so can arrange pick-ups around that.

Dunno if it was exhaustion or too much sun (I'm pink!) but I barely slept last night and have a pounding headache, but I will be having a light tea and then strolling up to the allotment to sow parsnips and leeks. Gotta take advantage of this perfect weather.

    Have a good one, all.

Builders have had a clearout in the garage and almost filled the skip.

Burnable wood has been cut up and stuck in the log store (saves them skip space). Bedroom is now clear - they've painted the radiator and curtain pole, which are drying. I've hoovered it, and will mop it when they are gone tomorrow so I can make a start on the underlay.

Ensuite still needs a bit more work - and they need to clean the floor. I will explain how tomorrow morning... :D

Garage has been tidied and hoovered. I need to do a bit more tidying to make space to roll out the whole rug. I've also got a large piece of carpet that is destined for the skip that I think I'll put underneath it while I wash it.

This weekend will be a carefully considered 'moving in' weekend (in between sessions in the garden, as that needs some concerted effort too!). The end is in sight... one more bedroom, then landing and stairs. And some odds and ends like smoke/CO alarms, heating controllers, downstairs radiators, boiler service, outside lights...

Am dreading the bill... but I'm sure it will be worth it.

Great story ATB - the power of woo is a curious but great...

We have only just started on this journey and already we are talking about moving out of the area that we live in the south to further up north.

However, through this journey too, we are making more use of what we already have and really think about what we need rather than want.

    Yay to Ms Kondo :j:T

Oh Caloo Calay - we've Kondoed the Caravan! Thought I'd be a little nostalgic as it went down the road with its new owners but couldn't wait to Kondo the insurance, storage fees and club membership lol! I'd also underestimated the feeling of freedom of not having the responsibility for a large possession and guilt that is wasn't being used.
Taking advantage of the lovely day and finishing planting the beans and my living salad Have a good evening all x

    YAY!!! :T

We had that feeling when we got rid of our old car - have got rid of all the insurance and extraneous (correct spelling?!) paperwork by shredding it at work.

So now with the power of woo - i have a huey lewis and the news song going through my head - back to the future anyone?!? LOL :)

:T Well done on kondo-ing the caravan, silvasava!

Reminds me of the remark I've heard made about both holiday homes and boats; the two best days with either are the day you buy them and the day you sell them; almost everything in between is aggravation.

Have had a minor hiccup with something on Freegle which left this afternoon; came home from the allotment this evening to a message that it wasn't quite what they thought it would be (?). Invited them to bring it back at their convenience if they didn't want it. Life's too short to fuss about such things. The rest of the Stuff has gone off quite happily inc the last item as I was typing this paragraph.:p

I think the great thing about kondo-ing is that you're approaching it from a position of joyfulness not a position of negativity. As in, omg, I have so much stuff, I can't move for stuff, I am so greedy and lazy and hopeless and and and.

Instead, we say to ourselves Does it spark joy? How lovely is that? :D
