KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I decided to buy some of the space saving coat hangers so I will be looking to get rid or recycle my old hangers.
I am going to make up a bag of clothes to donate or recycle when the hangers arrive and I rearrange the clothes. I know I don't really have that much, but I may as well see if I can fill up a bag with a few bits.
Argh, I'm doing the laundry this morning and as I was waiting for the spin cycle to stop to take the clean clothes out, I managed to hit the reset button so they are being washed again.
At least they will be very clean.:rotfl:0 -
Blimey, I say again, so many kondo-ers doing so well :T
Have been busy for a few days. Well one day was 'busy' having a long lunch and catching up with some friends (oh, thinking about it, I've spent 2 days doing that, diff friends!).
Yester was spent doing 5.5 hrs cleaning and helping my new clients (doesn't that sound good?). I am loving the variety of tasks, as well as standard house cleaning I have made a supermarket dash, mended a picture frame and released a handbrakeMechanic had dropped car off after service and pulled the handbrake on so hard my client couldn't release it! Car now safely parked on very slight inclined drive with handbrake suitably applied and it is in gear! I live on a very steep hill so leaving car in gear when parked is a must.
This morning I have done a stock take of fridge and freezer which is keeping orderly since I Kondo'd contents ages ago, menu planned for today and tomorrow (just started low carb campaign so meal planning is essential to make it easy to keep on track), done a load of washing, sliced up and frozen some chicken breasts I stuffed with sausage meat and roasted last evening (DH verdict.... Delicious.). Prepped veg for tea and now I have to tackle Plusnet who have sent me bill for first month on new contract and it is not what I agreed as they have failed to deduct the 6 months free internet
Although most of the above is not physical decluttering it is stuff that I really wouldn't have done before MK sprinkled the magic and I started to declutter my mind along with the house contents:eek:
Keep up the great work everyone

I think spending two days catching up with friends is an excellent use of your time. I aspire to do more stuff like that and less Stuff-wrangling.
Dad is being a wee trooper and dealing with some Stuff which needed attention when it came out of the cupboard. I have taken three men's jackets which he had turfed out (one was his dad's and grandad has been dead 17 years). Had them out on hangers on the washline so I could give them a good look-over in broad daylight - they'd been lurking on the rail in the BCof D for many years.
Verdict is one for the chazzer and two for freegling (slight cosmetic damage, doesn't affect their utility but might cause the chazzer to send them for ragging). The lightest colour and thinnest anorak I will launder when at home, it's a very pale grey and will come up better.
Mum had arbitrated on a selection of handbags and several are leaving via the chazzer and one had to be binned. I've counted a 500 piece jigsaw which had been loitering in their sitting-room because no one knew if it was complete (and thus donatable) or incomplete and thus recyclable. I counted really carefully and it seems to have 503 pieces.Maffs never was my strongest suit but I declare it complete and off it goes. Kid Bruv has taken the weekend's book orders to town and also took a chazzer donation bag with him.
I turfed Mares's Nest v2 into a crate and we've had a good pick thru and virtually all the contents has been homed/ set aside for donation/ put in the recycling or added into the knitting WIP in some cases. These little rubbly caches of Stuff are an absolute flipping nightmare.
But when it all gets a bit much, I stick my head in the BCof D and admire the beauty of labelled boxes and crates and feel all warm on the inside.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

GQ our CS has volunteers that take the donated jigsaws away to do they bring them back once completed for sale, knowing all pieces are there and put a stcker on saying it's been checked.
Time for work so sewing machine is being given a couple of hours off.
Have a joyful time allSPC~12 ot 124

So I have now caught up all the posts - am very impressed with all the progress that has been made.
GQ - I agree with everyone - you are a force to reckon with! :T You might have a nice side-line business on the cards there!
With the lovely weather that we have down south over the weekend - clothes were washed and on the line and now all put away. It was lovely to do - simple things in life make me happy
I sorted out a new home for my vest tops and now my clothes sorted out better in my wardrobe. We are now thinking of getting the carpenter in to put drawers in my wardrobe - don't have any at present.
Two cupboards under the stairs have also been kondoed, sorted and re-organised. Few bits in the bin and the rest in recycling.
Won't get much KM done this week as RL will be busy and also for the next few months, not much will be done apart from little things here and there. DH has now received is Op date, and to make it easier on him, he will recuperating at his parents. Which means that I will be travelling between our own home, their's and work on a regular basis...
Hope that everyone has a good rest of the day.

Phonics cape has been made from stashed fabric so can be taken into school tomorrow.
Friends canvas has been folded neatly while Dh was here for lunch so will be given back to him on Thursday.
Time to flatten some fabric now and reduce the amount in the basket.SPC~12 ot 124

:j We're just watering the locksmith with tea as he has finished repairing the back door - it's a 30 year old uPVC one and the lock had failed, they don't make exactly the same thing any more and the locksmith had to order up the closest-possible match and finesse it in.
This lock failed last Tues evening, the locksmith came on Thursday and again on Friday with a uPVC fitter pal as they had to take the door off its hinges to get a the locking bit (runs top to bottom on the door) so's it could be measured and sent for.
Folks are chuffed as the repair was looking likely to be Weds-Thurs and is now done. The cats will be thrilled as they keep staring through the bottom of the door which couldn't be opened and were too fey to go through the side door about 12 ft away. Particularly Wild Thing, who is very very fey at the best of times and a bit dim.
Once they've got over the trauma of having A Stranger in the house, they'll come back and be able to use the proper door and all will be well in their little furry worlds.
Am assembling Stuff to be taken away with me in various bags and boxes in sitting-room and hallway. Looks like an explosion in a jumble sale down there. Got a few donation bags going, a bag of coat-hangers, a bag of stuff for ragging, all sorts.
Have also found some more scrappy bits of knitting yarn which are busily going into the WIP blanket.
Righty, better go kondo the old back door key of mine and various other key-rings and replace with the new one.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Goodness me, this is so inspiring!
Well done everyone that has posted all of this amazing progress. I'm starting tonight!0 -
Wow, you must have a lot of tee shirts!
I read that and thought how soothing it sounded, too, must be the woo or something.
The sitting-room is an unholy mess which will only be alleviated by me slinging it all into the car tomorrow then barfing it all up into my own, much smaller, sitting room. Pending donation, relocation, translocation and the wonderful freegle world
We're hunting down the keys to the lock-which-is-no-more and are making a little pile on the mantle. I have surrendered my copy. Once done, I will get them all on one of the spare split rings and chuck 'em in metal recycling.
Redundant keys are an absolute menace in a household and best eliminated asap you know they're redundant, before they slip below the surface to reappear like shoals and cause chaos.
Righty, going to put this pooter to bed shortly. Catch you guys late tomorrow.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
