KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I sometimes wonder what benefit BH weekends bring me. I worked Saturday morning, then afternoon and all of yesterday was spent painting the fence. Still got a second coat of our side to do but we're both fed up with it and OH is struggling with a shoulder strain. So today we visited the tip with used paint cans, a load of cardboard, my old laptop (hoorah, finally got OH to remove hard drive, been nagging for about 18 months), he decided an old barbour jacket could go (double hoorah, I've always hated it). Trip to the Wickes for more fence stain, not sure if we'll need it but buy one get one free ends tomorrow, we'll take it back if we can. Trip to supermarket. Came home had lunch, making soup out of leftovers from M&S dine in tenner chicken. OH is setting up his new computer and cursing somewhat. Done ironing and laundry, folded and put away last weeks laundry. And now I'm facing the working week ahead with 4 days to do 5 days work........

Hello
DS has sorted a drawer of college papers, which has resulted in a large bag of recycling. We are having a bedroom switch-round. It's very slow progress as exam revision is in full swing. We are sorting a drawer at a time, when that's done we can start to move items into their new home.
DH has sorted through some of his clothes and a bag is now in the boot of his car to put in the charity clothes bank.
Some electrical cables, a broken DVD player and speakers will be taken to the electrical recycling skip. Three throws have also been bagged up for charity.
When the weather improved I need to get in the shed and garage. We did both last year but I'm sure there is room for improvement. The garage becomes a bit of a dumping ground over the winter months.
Have fun making space.

Karmacat as the passport stamps bring you joy why not cut them out and create a collage with photos of the places you went to in a large frame,or even in 2 or 3 small ones . Then they would be a lovely reminder of your travels when you pass by themFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0

I'm boxing clever.
Am busily containing the many various kinds of Stuff which live in the BCofD into smallish labelled boxes on the shelves. These are boxes from the supermarket acquired on previous trips and are, without exception, boxes which once held booze.
The tubes storing knitting needles are coralled in a Moet & Chandon box, various other things are in boxes which held beers, Jack D@aniels and Famous Grouse. We are a family of virtual teetotallers but you'd think we're a right bunch of dipsomaniacs by the boxery we're hoarding.
I'm demonstrating my advanced Tetris skills to the ungodly and they're suitably impressed. There is likely to be several empty plastic crates at the end of the process, gawd bless us and save us.
Actually measured the BCof D earlier - 32 inches deep by 41 inches wide. I guess it's what the Americans would call a closet.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Accidentally kondo'ed one of my favourite mugs yesterday, knocking it over and getting tea on a silk cushion, so that'll be another £9 dry cleaning bill. Won't ever buy silk cushions again. Fortunately the chair had a throw on it which took most of the rest of the spill otherwise it would have been a dry cleaning bill for the sofa cushion and pad also.Make £2025 in 2025

Had dgson this weekend and as he was going home I got out a lidded basket to give to his mum to put shoes in by the front door, on seeing it he said can I have that for my starwars figures as the lid won't shut on the box they are in as it's too small. Cue me running upstairs for empty plastic storage box with lid
how about that I said ,oh that's great grandma !
So it was a double win points off dgson and 2 storage containers off the property!:beer:Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

Maybe some of the wrapping paper from the loft could be used to hide the origin of the boxes? or you could knit them covers from the yarn stash? Or make slipcovers from the fabric stash
Managed to avoid bringing anything home from the fete bar half a jar of instant coffee which I will either use or donate to the builders...0 -

Thanks for that, a branch of m and ess is a lot more accessible to me than anything other than a metro tosspots.
Have got virtually everythng back in the BCof D and there is still room to STAND in there. Can't believe my eyes. Have to take some smallish amounts of kipple downstairs for maternal arbitration but we are seriously getting ahead of the game, here.
greenbee, don't tempt her! It's a closed cupboard, not one on public show.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Fab progress, GQ
4 lead crystal brandy glasses identified to go, so have washed them and will pop them on facebook for a few £ first - will take to CS if no interest by end of week. Re-did my bathroom chest of drawers (holds my towels (others being in the airing cupboard) and spare toiletries) and threw away a couple of lipsticks (they tasted funny when on), a freebie cosmetics bag (rearranged stash so it was no longer required) and changed some old supplies for new ones from the stash. Bathroom given a total thorough clean and fitting on loo seat changed for identical one kept for Justin from garage loft - which was handy for once, as old one had corroded (think it was damaged slightly)
Also checked out card and gift stash under my bed and located the items there for sister and some for DS3 and cards for one of DS2's friends and for bestie's husband.
Small steps made today, but that's mainly what I do now, as most areas are done.
