if it wasn't bank holiday tomorrow i doubt i would have got through as much as i have today ... does that make sense? i think the knowledge of not having to rush to do the chores ready for work/school has actually made me more productive!

It was quite eye opening today as I was sifting that even though i am strapped for cash and use it as an excuse for not being able to do anything because i don't have x or y, I have realised that doing other things can actually be quite joyful. On the downside my front room has piles again of things on ebay that are now listed. Even if it all sold for the listed bargain value then it would be over £100. Quite a few things have served their purpose so weren't frivolous buys. just time to move on.

quality time with kids tomorrow... woo hoo

Managed to get the dining room table cleared (it has been under piles of stuff moved out of the way of the builders from elsewhere over the last couple of weeks) as I somewhat rashly invited a friend over for supper at the last minute. I had about half an hour to clear up (hadn't cleared up after the builders yet this week), get myself changed and find something to eat - and just managed it.

However I didn't manage to mow the lawn, and it's now raining, which means I may not get done tomorrow. I also need to get my laundry done as it needs to be dried and put away before the builders come back.

Yesterday morning was spent baking cupcakes for a wedding. Afternoon and evening were spent at the wedding. Morning was spent with family (who very kindly put me up, dropped me off and picked me up) and I came home via TKMaxx where I restocked on toiletries and picked up a few kitchen bits I needed and some stools that will work as bedside tables for the kids. Fell asleep when I got home...

I have tomorrow morning to get all my weekend jobs done, as the village fete is tomorrow afternoon and I have to do my stint on teas... it's good fun, and sociable, so i'm hoping we'll have decent weather (but if we don't, teas are at least in the village hall which means i'll be inside and dry!).

Congratulations on all the progress. Particularly good to get news on GQ's progress - it sounds like a few local CSs will be fully stocked in the next week or so! Great idea to use up the wool scraps immediately so they can be moved on. And they'll take up less space when they're tidily knitted. Do you have one CS blanket under construction at home and one at your parents' or is this the same one? I hope you won the battle on the dressing-gown front and have now been suitably upgraded! If they resist, remind them that you deserve some benefit from all the work you put in!

    Morning all
Rest of the paddock cut  It was such hard work but done now until next week :rotfl:
Had a wander around the bootsale in the morning not that I was going to buy any of the (mostly) junk that was there. But to see if I could see anyone I knew so I could offload some raffle tickets ;)

Pleased to say another 8 books have left my house and could have got rid of more but run out as I only took the 8 books with me.Oh well always another time ;)

The house is still staying so tidy I really cant believe how well this process is working over a year down the line.

I am always saying now 'Oh yes you can come to mine' for what ever meeting etc it is :rotfl:Before I would have come up with every excuse under the sun NOT to have it at mine :o How times have changed :)

It is so nice not to have to worry about it anymore. It brings me loads of joy as there is just no stressing.

GQ Glad you seem to have made some great prgress this weekend well done to all of you :T

    :) Morning all.

Sounds like a fair few of us are actually enjoying our extra Bank Holiday time and putting it to productive kondo usage.

Last night I had to re-load most of the big stuff back into the BCofD as it was all over my parents' bed and I thought they ought to be able to sleep in it. I'm all heart, hey?:rotfl:

This morning after breakfast, I dragged it all out again, covered the floorboards in the cupboard with newspaper and, by 8.40 am, I'd painted that one wall and touched in the ceiling in the back bedroom. I've declared a tea break before prising open a tin of coloured emulsion from 2005 when the back bedroom (the spare bed and this pooter live there) was redecorated.

This room has that textured wall-paper and the bit over the window had to be re-done some months ago but no one had got around to repainting it. Had moved the paint can which came to light when searching for summat else upstairs, but that was as far as it has got.

I've wrapped the white emulsion paintbrush in clingfilm as I will be putting a second coat on that inside cupboard wall later today and will get another brush out of the loft for the yellow.

There was only just 1.5 inches of white left, so Dad will hang fire until I've finished the cupboard and if there's enough left, there are a couple of bits of ceiling in another couple of rooms which need a bit of a wash and touch-in.

He remarked to me this morning that I really like painting. The joke is, Dad actually taught me my painting chops as a child, but I am much more patient and methodological than he is, so quickly became the better housepainter and used to do all the painting when I lived here - or even when I visited.

Found a huge bag of coat-hangers taking up space in the BCof D, which was news to Mum as she thought all the excess had been decluttered previously. I will have at that bagful later, in her presence, to see if any more can go. They're mostly the kind you got with the garment when you bought it, anyone know if these can be recycled at all?

Completely with you mavvymoo about inviting people back, I even talk to friends at the door because I am too embarrassed to let them in. My close friends now just walk in, this is actually motivating as they can honestly tell me how it is coming along which boosts my mojo to continue even if it is only in ten minute stints! A lot of truth in slow and steady wins the race.

Some bits on eBay already have watchers which also spurs me on. I am debating about a sewing machine with my next payday. The old one is on eBay for spares/repair. I have a few bits/alterations that you can't really hand sew so would have to take them to shop. The cost of getting them done would be over £40 and if i factor in cashback and voucher remnants I have then there would only be about £8 difference between getting the machine that i could also use further down the line when i hope to get sewing crafting again. Decisions ! Decisions!

Waiting for girls to get up, we are off on a mystery shop today which is one that you can only do with kids so they are in the element and with my pizza Tesco deals should be a cheap but fun.

Could you kondo the pan lids in my direction? I have the opposite problem. Fewer pans than lids!

Found 8 lids with no pan to live on! :eek:No wonder nothing ever worked right. If you lived nearby, you can have them :D

I've cleared all the tops of the top cupboards in the kitchen. I notice my eye gets drawn straight up to the stuff that never gets used up there and its very subconsciously irritated me every time I went into the kitchen.

They are now clear as is the window sill :D

4 more huge boxes of stuff packed and ready to go.

Dishwasher on with stuff that will be gone, just needed a final clean before it gets thanked and sent on its way.

I've gone a little topsy turvy with this by heading straight to the kitchen area after clothes but its been such a huge source of so much over the years.

I used to so love cooking but a huge change in family dynamics meant there is hardly anyone to cook for and I think I kind of gave up!:(

I didn't stop 'collecting' though, including kitchen paraphernalia, cookery books and food, possibly with the kidding myself that if I carried on similar behaviours I'd achieve a similar feeling of satisfaction.:o

    Not so!

So, gone, gone, gone...and its starting to feel so much less stifling.

I also have so much to car boot, so the original dilemma last week of 'not letting go', of the first lot of stuff that was for a car boot, but happily went off to a charity shop has allowed so much progress, room shifting, house breathing and more flow than I'd have ever of thought was necessary.

I also went to lunch yesterday, with a friend of mine in York, which was lovely, she was widowed a few months ago so going for a meal out was really pleasant for the company, the laughter and the time just having a natter with a friend and doing a bit of 'normal'.

I also kondoed the picture on my ipad of my cat that went missing well over a year ago and broke my heart. She was on the cover screen and everytime I saw her little face I would get sad. So her little face is replaced with a much more cheerful to me picture, I will always remember her though, I just realised I didn't need reminding of the sadness bit.

Check the paint before you use it GQ - I've had a couple of open tins that have gone over recently. One was ancient. The other was probably only about 6 months old, if that.

Have you solved the problem of where all your brother's boxes are going to live? Sounds like he needs a room... or a shed... dedicated to his business!

Triker - can I suggest that you give the 'car boot' stuff a deadline? If you haven't done a car boot by e.g. end June then you CS it. You need the space (and headspace) and you can at least gift-aid it (and if you're a higher-rate taxpayer you can claim the rest of the tax back).

Laundry is ongoing. I'm still trying to work out how I'm going to get the bedroom rug (all 15m2 of it) washed and dried ready to go back into the bedroom next weekend. I need a heatwave!

Still raining. Which I'm cross about as I wanted to do gardening this morning. Guess I'll have to do paperwork instead.
