When I lived in my hometown I had a house with two bedrooms. I slept in the first, and called the second one by whichever use I made of it. Sometimes it was Office (large desk and office chair; bills, filing), sometimes Study (studying), Library (easy chair and wall of books), Guest Room (mattress on the floor in the middle of the room. It only was 3x3m (9'x9') with a sloping roof

Congratulations Karma cat on kondoing work life!
My house also has the living room facing East and the kitchen West ,which has a conservatory added all across but my kitchen is cold and so is the bathroom which is at the back, possibly because of the open aspect at the back we have a great view but suffer with the cold winds!:o
Hope everyone has a good weekend :jFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Taking my courage in both hands I have Kondo'd my embroidery and cross stitch stash.... so hard, but three kilos of fabric, threads, kits and even a couple of small stitched pieces have gone off to a charity to be used in their fund-raising.
Three works-in-progress and some fabric had died in storage (I had to stop stitching for a long time due to my RA) so I know that I did the right thing.... but, ouch!, how hard was it to realise that I no longer even liked some of the charts, let alone loved them!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -

My views aren't bad, across a wiggly row of back gardens one side, and a rec. field at the other, but the porch sticks out very slightly and shields me from the worst of the weather. And a new bathroom radiator has helped immensely!
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Evening all.
I am tuckered out as have been kondo-ing at two diffrent addresses. We were over at Nan's for about 6 hours then nipped into an Aldee on the way home. I offered to buy Mum some plants to put into an empty planter in the back yard.
She chose what she wanted, we came in, Dad went straight into the shed for the potting compost and within 10 mins of coming home, the pot had been washed, the plants potted, the multi-cell plant carrier thingy washed up and was draining ready for the recycling bin.
At Nan's Mum & I jointly kondo'd the cleaning supplies cupboard, which inc finding a couple of products which had died in storage - their containers were washed up and recycled.
Back home, I made a fast raid into The Bedroom Cupbaord of Doom (BCof D for short), which has been standing with its door agape for months. I snaffled a bag for life, a plastic crate and a cardboard box for sorting.
Turfed the bag of stuff out onto the kitchen table and it was a mare's nest of knitting stuff, sewing stuff, papery misc etc etc. It included; a part-completed cat blanket, payslips from the early noughties, 9 tape measures (4 cased, 5 regular and unravelled), an almost complete cross-stictch project, several stray crochet hooks and sock needles, several mismatched knitting needles, buttons, zips and oddments of yarn.
There was more, but I'll spare ya. We sorted thus, some stuff was binned, some set aside for donation and some for me to use in projects.
Mum is a bit weary now, also, and I think I won't pull any more Stuff out as I don't want to spoil her mojo for tomorrow.
Wish me luck, ladies and any gents reading, we're gonna need it.;)Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

:j:j:j Looks like we've sold our caravan!! Good job I decided to get it cleared last week - will be going over on Monday to give it a wipe over and dust to make sure it's presentable. We've not used it for 18 months so need to make sure there are no (look away now GQ) those small ladies with 8 legs that can move incredibly fast.
I shall be sorry to see it go but our lifestyle is changing and we're being realistic. It also means I can kondo the storage fees and the insurance.
Hope everyone has a good Bank Holiday and gets some sunshineSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Nice one, silvasava!
Am just about to crawl off to bed - wasn't joking about being knackered - but one of the things uncovered in the box of Stuff was a dvd-type case holding k0dak photo prints. Have got them out and album'd and the folks have enjoyed looking through them and reminiscing. Some duplicates/ poor shots have even been junked. Result.
See ya on the other side, GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I like the idea of 'my study' too!
Instead of office, sewing room, guest overflow room and junk room. I'll feel so much more together
referring to it this way.Overprepare, then go with the flow.
