KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Excellent, have found out the reuse centre will take coathangers. The recycling bins in our local Tesco have either disappeared or been relocated.
Trip to the tip this afternoon saw some minor bits go, including a Kenwood Minimix that hasn't been used in 20 years. Am working out now what can go in the cupboard that used to take most of the space up in.Make £2025 in 2025

:j Two big bags of chazzer donations have now been donated and I may have accidentally bought two lovely hardbacks for £1 from another chazzer.
Well, I shall enjoy reading them and then they can go back.
Gas servicing wallah came this morning at 8 am and kitchen was all straightened and I didn't need to feel embarrassed about clutter or grime or spend an hour plus the previous evening scrubbing and clearing things away.
It's very soothing ironing things and folding them meditatively into a bag and saying bye-bye and thinking how you will never ever ever have to iron them again. Not that I iron much, probably less than 10 minutes per month, which is how I've managed to only own one iron in the past 30 years..........:rotfl:
Will probably not kondo anything more this evening unless something throws itself under my feet and demands to be re-homed. You never know, stranger things have happened. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the shed/ bathroom/ kitchen/ room of doom....
Hmm, actually, I have had an idea about summat in the kitchen cupboard which I shall sneak up on after having had a cuppa. Imagine me donning my pith helmet (I like taking the pith), my safari suit and my 12 bore shotgun as I sneak up on something unsuspecting of the cluttery nature.
BANG!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Love it, GQ!
I've had to Kondo the washing machine, it's been indicating ill-health for a while by making strange groaning noises, but yesterday it refused to hand over the washing. Once I'd ascertained the sock-monster wasn't lurking inside holding the door shut, I put it onto 'spin' but what came out was soaking wet, so I've accepted it's time for a new one. I think it's twelve years old so not bad service!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
My sister came round for tea today and collected the birthday present I'd got for her other half. So, that's a present out of the house, plus a gift bag and a couple of sheets of tissue paper I used to wrap it all in!
I seem to breed gift bags... As a primary school teacher, I get a lot of gifts at the end of the year, and a lot of them come in gift bags. I'm always reluctant to throw them away, so then I'm always happy to see them off to someone else!
Perhaps this will be the first year I'll feel more inclined to get rid of them once the present is opened!
And maybe I'll do better with disposing of the gifts... Don't get me wrong, I love receiving them, and I'm so pleased and grateful to be appreciated and thought of, but so many of them are just not to my taste.
Last week I Kondo'd a "best teacher" mug, that I can honestly say I don't recall ever drinking out of! I remembered the child who gave it to me, some 4 years ago, sent him some good thoughts, and then put the mug in the dustbin.Because it's fun to have money!

Gift bags can sell at charity shops, I've even bought them there myself and was very happy to do so. I actually wombled one out of the communal recycling bin this week as it was so nice and I'll be needing it later this year.

That is definitely worth me keeping in mind then! I'd never really thought of it!
The only gift bags I'm pleased to receive are those for wine.Because I KNOW I'll end up recycling those at Christmas when I like to give a bottle of nice plonk to each of my teaching assistants. And a gift bag always makes it look a bit nicer and disguises it a bit from the children!
I usually get enough of those in the summer, to have enough to cover me at Christmas time.Because it's fun to have money!

Been busy for a few days but just popped in to say.....
well done to Scotinlondon :T
and to greent for getting the kids onboard :T
GQ for enjoying minimal ironing (I ration myself to a few minutes a year, anymore and I'd faint with excitement I should think :rotfl:).
And everyone else who is moving to another category, or re-visiting one!
I released a couple of pairs of slipper socks to CS today. I find them too cumbersome to put on and wear so off they have gone to bring someone joy.
Have written another 'to do' list as that is really helping me stay focussed and have prepped
something nice for tea tomorrow as I have a busy day starting with my first mammogram (or monogram, as mil calls them), having reached my early 50's.

KM'd the outside store room today (it's around 10ft square). It hadn't looked too bad till we emptied our apartment of stuff we wanted and the two large plastic storage cupboards basically exploded all over the roof in a gale . They were bagged up and put in there amongst other stuff. Managed to rebuild one completely and rebuild the other without the doors - which is ideal for putting the garden stuff on. Justin Case (though we're in Spain so he'd be Justino Caso
) had been storing his stuff in there as well:
- Large orange Vax which Justino had been keeping in case we ever got carpets. We won't. OH took to communal bin and left there. Van driving past stopped and took it straight away :T.
- Six drawer wooden chest of drawers, really solid, hand made by previous late owner. Unworkable for what we wanted. Gone from bin area by the time OH came back with another load :T.
- Box of ornaments owned by previous owner. Hellish, expensive to buy but no second hand value. Justino wanted to keep till fashions changed. On their way to charity shop - we'll tell them to give to their valuing lady to have a look at.
- Ditto a few crystal decanters. Justino was hoping for a Spanish version of Downton Abbey being made here. Not going to happen :rotfl:.
- Three bags of LP's. Justino (in the guise of OH) thought they were worth something and was going to sell them. Six months later........... They're going to a table top charity sale, if none get sold we'll offer some to a bar owner who puts them on the walls, the rest to chazzer, sorry, el chazzero.
- Justino did win the battle over a few lengths of wood Justino Caso I decide to make some garden torches (i.e. wood with little tea light holder glued/stuck on top and sprayed black or bronze). To be fair to Justino I've already made some and they look lovely (when it's dark and you can't see the duct tape :rotfl:).
- Also replaced the ripped mossie net over the window. Fixed it in place using my heavy duty stapler - the previous owners one that Justino had claimed failed to work so went to the bin.
- Various little old tools being kept Justino Caso I ever worked out what they were also bit the dust :T.
- Justino and I both agreed to keep hold of the massive plastic flowerpot, with hole cut out of the bottom for my legs and decorated with flowers, ladybirds and butterflies, which I wore in the Carnival. We both felt either myself or someone else would definitely get future use out of it
All in all a good day.

:rotfl: loving the translation! I'm not sure what Marie would say about the flowerpot, though.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

I'm seeing the bottom of this huge pile of paperwork I've been going through. It feels so good!
Of course I haven't even started on the office.:eek:Overprepare, then go with the flow.
