Igamogam, thank you for that! A good point. Because I wasn't stacking and waiting, I hadn't remembered that, but its really important.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

That is not frustration but being a good parent! With firm, but fair consistency............not enough of it IMO:DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Really feel for DD. As it was snow day her sleep over cancelled so she asked if she did most of tidying her room if she could meet her friend for lunch. I happily agreed. Ten minutes before friend is due she texts as she has to go to her dads.
However we are doing the chores together so less work over weekend!Don’t put it down - put it away!

I KM-ed my card stash last year and donated a pile to the CS. I then made a massive effort to use the ones left up, rather than buying any (exceptions being for close family members) - I managed to use lots up on small people's school friends for parties and will continue to stash bust this year, rather than buying (where a card is suitable for the recipient) My mum then added to my stash, and then my mil died, so I inherited her stash. I weeded some more out to CS, but I'm still good for a couple of years for general birthdays/ get well/ blank cards/ Easter/ moving house/ birth of babies/ weddings/ anniversaries/ deaths/ engagements.....!!!
Mine are in a card box with dividers splitting birthday/ blank/ special occasion/ special person (allocated to particular people already)

Stockpiled OOD food has gone! This frees up 3 shelves in my understair cupboard. Will get the rest of the junk out of there over the weekend when DH is home to occupy the whiney baby. Also threw away 14 empty formula cans that have been piling up because they take up so much room in the bin!0

I am failing in parts. The positives first, sock, undies, nightwear, shoes, jewellery and some tops, they have all been neat and tidy for over a year and am finding those items very easily
The negatives are wardrobes, well tbh what is in them. Dh died 13 months ago and I have spread out, now filled a large wardrobe and two small ones, all my stuff. Numerous tops, body warmers, knitteds, coats, jackets, trousers, shirts. I will not get rid of them because they are nice, I like them and they are decent quality. Today I bought more trousers because I have had that type before and they fit me, soon sell out as my height (short) and size are difficult to get hold of. My first holiday on my own soon and yes, I needed more tops. I don`t know why I am on here because I know that I will bite the bullet ie no more warm tops, the house is warm and winters mild and those tops are bulky. So I will have to learn to layer, when it is oh so easy to pull on a cosy top. At my rate, it will be years before I get anywhere near a kondo scenario in my house:cool:
Maybe I am addicted to internet shopping, no kidding0 -
Excellent point about the bonfires - I build mine about 5 mins before I set fire to them, so no chance for wildlife to move into them. And I also pride myself on a smokeless bonfire. The one at the beginning of October was superb, the flames were 6 ft tall, it burned with a roar and it was almost completely smokeless. Having things as dry as possible is the key.
I'd like to claim today's prize for wackiest things found whilst kondoing. I was in my pal's shop and tidying up the back room and found, underneath a desk among a slew of carrier bags; a repro Graeco-Roman statue, a kukri, two WW2 daggers (one from Sweden), a bag of table knives and a Napoloeonic War bayonet.
Pretty darned peculiar, hey? It's a [STRIKE]junk shop[/STRIKE] err antiques emporium. As I burbled to him happily, tidying up in his place is so much more interesting than tidying up at mine.:rotfl:
Am in process of decanting the fancy bath product from the very breakable fancy glass bottle it came in. Getting it into a prosaic bubble bath bottle whose contents I've just finished. The fancy bottle weighs a lot and is too likely to be broken in use. Indeed, if something that heavy landed in the basin, it'd likely suffer a terminal cracking accident.
The fancy bottle is so very fancy that I shall wash it up nicely and hand it over to the chazzer.
Have also tidied the airing cupboard and got the WIP fabric in there nicely. Gary the Towel sends his love, by the way.;)Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I'm also unlikely to be able to retire early, so many of my colleagues are leaving at 55 and although I'm only part time I am going to be there until I'm 68 if I'm lucky as it goes up all the time ! I keep saying that they will have to install stannah stair lifts as I'll probably be on a zimmer by the time I go!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0
