PWD, I too shall now be donating some 'cards I will never send' to charity - great idea, thanks! Also, will be nicking your idea for filing the cards properly. We have quite a large box with all sorts in there. I try to keep birthday ones separate from 'other' but am failing even at that level. For some reason I had not thought of using dividers. It is an odd thing, as many have said, that we stop noticing stuff / processes just because they have been there for years. So, tonight I shall enjoy sorting the card box and releasing some to charity bag.

Big news - DH asked me where the latest charity bag was (I told him a few things were going that way again) - he wanted to add a winter coat and a couple of good-but-too-small T-shirts. Perhaps (whisper it), just perhaps, he is catching on

Cleaning supplies - DONE! Don't know why I procrastinated over it so badly. It only took 15 minutes to do!

Next on my hitlist is food I won't use. I have a large understairs cupboard that opens into kitchen diner. I put a plastic shelving unit in there when we moved in and stockpiled cupboard foods from approved foods. I'm only left with the bits we tried and didn't like and the stuff I can't eat on Slimming World. So it's all going to go which will free up the shelves for storing the rest of the stuff in the cupboard so I don't just randomly throw stuff in never to be seen again!

I will clear the foodstuffs by the end of tomorrow.

Hi all hope everyone is well.

Been to kondo hair today 1st time since before Xmas , I keep it very short and it was way too long and thick but was trying to save a few pounds! When I told dd2 I was going she presented me with an envelope which she was giving me for mothers day, which had a voucher for my hairdressers! :)

Yesterday I had a Horrendous day at work so kondoed half a bottle of wine at the quiz ! Could have done with it attached to an intravenous drip at work! :rotfl:

Not done much kondo at home as I'm done give or take a few revisits ,though I'm always on look out for more to do !
Will definitely put dividers in my card box great idea Pollywollydoodle.

:) Wow, the amount of times I come on here and find that the rest of you are poking around in the same sort of komono as me.

I was sorting through my two boxes of cards. They're a bit smaller than shoebox size, and I have forced myself not to add to the stash for over a year, but there is still plenty. I favour arty cards or cards with beautiful pix of birds or flowers on, which can serve a multitude of purposes, although I have stashed an '80th Birthday' card away which is appropriate for a lady.

Glad you like my sig Slinky! DH and I made a 5 year plan to clear debts, save every penny we could and effectively 'buy time' - having a little safety net so we could reduced our employee hours and so we could do more of what we wanted. DH started his own business, never make us rich but it's bringing in enough money so long as I also earn a bit. I have less than 2 weeks to work as an employee - I'll have to remove the last bit of my sig soon :rotfl:

TBH, the changes to pension age really brought it home to us. Working for someone else until 67 (and even that may move away again) does not appeal to us and we've both seen our parents health decline horrendously by 70.

The MK woo fits exactly with our desire for more time of our own of course. No more rummaging for hours looking for stuff we know we have but can't find! Concentrating on things that spark joy :D

sorry, i realise I sound smug now. We do not take it for granted and we have had our share of good luck as well, but we are making the conscious effort and we really appreciate the fact that, for the moment at least, we can work to our own timetable! Not sure how long that will last but taking it while we can :)

Back on topic - 16 cards-I'll-never-send to go to CS!

We're mortgaged until 69/70 for me/DH, so no option really. My dad passed at 61 and my mum at 75, both of cancer. Dad retired at 60 and was ill for 12 months of his retirement before his death.

So sorry about your folks Floss. It does bring it home when they don't get to enjoy retirement after all the years of work. So unfair.
You never know, you may well pay off the mortgage sooner than you think - I hope you can!
We need to Kondo those unjoyful debts if we can and my starting point was not buying atuff I didn't need. I know not everyone can afford non-essentials but we who are decluttering have mostly succumbed at one time or another. So, onwards and upwards!

    Best wishes,

:) I applaud people who are able to choose to cut down hours/ retire a bit earlier even if it means being poorer. It's such a shame that we're not all going to be able to do that.

I'm one of the those women who has already had an extra 7 years stuck onto the end of her working life, and I have been chronically ill with ME for 30 years already. I dread how cream-crackered I'm going to be in my sixties, even with office jobs.

My parents are blessedly alive, but Mum has had BC since she retired (5 years clear, now) and now has Parkinson's. A lot of people aren't going to live long enough to have any retirement at all, and it's a bitter thing to contemplate.

Soooo, do what you can to enjoy every moment NOW and don't postpone joy.

    Morning all
Busy all day today so no kondoing but I'll get back on it next week as I have some paperwork to sort.
I gave a load of cards I was never going to use to the CS in Jan when I filled my card file with ones I hope to use this year.

Have a joyful day all. Work is calling so I'd better get ready - really looking forward to it as Friday's are always lovely with celebration assembly's and today we are making Mother's Day cards so lots of fun.
