Good luck GQ I am sure it will be fine :)

Yesterday I spent about 2 hours looking for new tiles that bring me joy for the kitchen.Found some I loved but at £25 each  I need to look harder. :o

Then decided I may as well change the worktop and sink as both are looking past their best :)
So will have a look around and see if I can cheer it up but not spend an arm and a leg to do it :D

As I am going to have to live here for at least a year or so might as well enjoy it as much as I can while I am here.Who knows if I can take it from Bland to Bling I might even decide to stay ;)

You can take the girl out of Essex but you cant take Essex out of the girl :rotfl:

    Have a Joyful day everyone

GQ hope the sparkies get their work done without problems
    Hope all are well.
need to clear the recyclable papers from the weekend out and have a bit to file and sort then I will do a bit more binding on my quilt so it can go out of the lounge and upstairs once it's a finished item rather than a Wip or bit of stash.
I have my granny in the rooms (my great gran) blown glass etched decanter I can bring to the garden party to serve chilled cordial in (it is very pretty and joyful) I do have a rather strange looking tea pot in the shape of a birds nest it was my grans mum collected several after her funeral and gave us one each. I'm undecided if it is joyful and it won't be used but it does remind me of my gran so for now it stays.

    Have a joyful day all.

I have tiny coffee spoons with china handles that are very joyful. Could bring them to the garden party. This garden party could be in my back garden if you are wearing a skisuit and thermals as it is snowing - the great big white flakes that block roads and look like a Christmas card. GreyQueen hope the workmen are kind and don't eat all the biccies;)

Can I just say that T0pps tiles tae Tosco reward vouchers for tiles, at 3 x the voucher value... We tiled our bathroom with marble walls, slate floor & mosaic slate in the walk-in shower for not very much :D

    Hi all!

So I decided to Kondo all of the cd and dvd boxes because they take up a lot of room compared with a cd wallet.

Trying to decide on categories I realised I have enough films and TV shows in my DVD collection to make an almost-full wallet entirely of Benedict Cumberbatch and/or Martin Freeman films - oops! Apparently my slight BBC Sherlock obsession has taken over our film collection too!

    :j I'm back!.

My sparkies were here for 7.15 hours. I started with three for a few minutes, then was down to two for the rest of the time. Turned out that some badnesses (missing earth wires) were discovered when they started taking off the lightswitches, sockets and pendants.

So they called the gaffer and my electrical upgrade was upgraded into a full rewire, which added about an hour to their day. Thank gawd this 1970s block was built with the wires in conduits in the walls and ceilings, so they were able to tow the new wiring through attached to a bit of the old wiring with tape. Pretty interesting to watch, actually.

I now have NO extension cables on my floor, whereas I used to have a 6 ganger and a 4 ganger. There are two double sockets alongside the phone point beside the desk and most of the computer stuff bar the monitor is in those, the monitor being plugged into another new double socket.

Dowerlinks, I have more sockets than I have appliances!

:o As you may have gathered, I am very pleased. The sparkies were lovely, the gaffer dropped in and is a scream, and will be back tomorrow to due the full QC before the job gets signed off.

Still got to put the flat back to rights but that's no biggie and I need an infusion of MSE and a cuppa.

Heck, they would only have three cuppas between them and no lunch break the whole day and don't eat biscuits at all (fortunately I do ;)).

I will bring DHs cake forks...and my cake stands and linen napkins :o and I will even bake too :D

I can let you have tins for the cake baking. We've gone low carb and I can't ever see myself baking cakes again. I will have a slice of your lovely cake though as I do break the no-carb rules from time to time.

Sounds like everyone is cracking on with plenty of jobs. Is it because we are so excited about the garden party with GQ?? Always good to have something to look forward to.
I would have brought my much loved cake forks but everyone else is coming fully tooled up! My MIL gave them to me years ago and I thought they would be a darned nuisance in my small cutlery drawer but we do use them! Useful for salad starters, too more likely to be used for cake though.....:D

My brother turned down the fruitcake I was trying to re-home but 5 y.o. niece has said she would 'eat the outside' (thick icing!!). I'll bring it to the party, it'll keep until summer when the roses are due for first inspection, OK?

Glad the electrical re-wire went well, GQ. It's always a relief to get disruptive jobs over with.

After much domestic 'discussion' about colour scheme for skirtingboards we are both agreed that DH's careful gloss-work has done the trick and the room is looking nice and fresh. Some
considerable debate is on-going about a possible purchase of a new table lamp.... I am trying not to have anymore in-coming stuff, not yet anyway..... Although sitting pondering just now I did think that it couldn't be that difficult to wire up the necessary components to adapt a rather lovely but unused vase (little intrinsic value but good potential to spark joy - well not literally spark, one hopes :rotfl:). I'll give it some more thought. It is one of those plans that I will have to carry to fruition and present as a fait accompli, DH will never go for it if he gets chance to think about it :D:D

two more books, a pair of gloves, 2 cushion covers and 3 t shirts into charity bag. Just stuff I grabbed as it came to mind. I must return to categories, it works best that way for me, I am easily distracted without a proper plan!

    Take care All

    M
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
