KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

A trip to my DD's yesterday and I passed on to her a large pine-framed mirror that has been sitting unhung in my hall since 2003. Plus a coffee maker- mucho gusto - I got free with on line insurance a year ago. I thought my coffee drinking OH would have used it, but he prefers Nescaff decaffeinated. A dust collector gone and space on work top gained. I also KD'd a Hello Kitty long sleeved tee and a very small silver bracelet to teenage grand DD. An out of date Betty Crocker chocolate cake mix also gratefully received by them.
I had a very joyful acquisition of a spacious black handbag for under 7 quid from a CS and I'm thinking of reducing my bag collection by at least three. I reckon I can get by with one black, one brown and a cream one for summer.0 -
The Natwest pigs cant stay where they are
They are quite hidden on the bottom shelf. But I catch them out of the corner of my eye and I just know they are there :rotfl:
They do not bring me any kind of joy reminding me of hard times and late rent moneyBut more than that I just hate them
Awful bl**dy things (sorry if anyone has a set
)
I have just noticed we have had a small leak in the Bedroom ceiling and is slightly stained  I did say to my DH a month or so ago when we had that bad rain I could hear dripping and he dismissed it.
So a loft visit is neededTo check it out and grab an empty storage box for the grinning pigs to go into;) and be banished out of my sight :rotfl:

Thank you yours sound fab tooI always feel better when I am wearing Orange or some other Bright bold Colour
I am thinking maybe thats why I hate this house so much its just Bland :rotfl:Cream, White with a bit of Blue thrown inBoring Bland and just not me.
I had an Orange bedroom in my last house and it looked lovely and always cheered me up
The tiles in the Kitchen are Blue and the house is all open plan so thats why I have always stuck to Blue accents. But I hate it so much when I think about it. I NEED A CHANGE and quickly before I go insane :rotfl:

But they're plain pink not floral pink wellies, yes?
I moved another half-tonne of spent barley grains from the communal heap over to my allotment today. Recent delivery and smelling beautifully beer-y.
Some people cook with beer, our allotment site grows with it. And I had hops, too!
Oh, yes, plain pink!
I grow with beer too - DH brews his own beer so I get the spent grain & hops. It makes cracking compost!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Kondoing at a snails pace here. Emptied airing cupboard, selected some items to release then couldn't work out how to best fit items back into cupboard. It's an awkward shape the hot water tank being removed a few years ago so goes back where I cant reach being short of height. Left it for a couple of days (which turned to weeks) as I pondered and then light dawned with the aid of a couple of sturdy shoe boxes - male trainer size and now all my towels are rolled and stood upright. This gives me a ridiculous amount of pleasure. Just need a solution to the bedding hoard. Have sorted into sets and put into pillowcases but cant seem to stack nicely. Doesn't help I can't use next shelf up as I cant reach it easily without pulling everything onto my head each time.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

Ive got bedding sets in clear lidded boxes ontop of a wardrobe [my airing cupboard is more of a damp horrible cupboard so it doesnt get used.]
If the things are in a container, its easier to grab it from up high.
I do a similar thing in the top of my kitchen cupboards, everything's stored in a grab-able container or basket, not loose.''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -

I ended up having to stack things in the airing cupboard as well due to the shape and height of shelves. Sometimes I think you have to accept the things you cannot change and do your best with the rest.
All my stacked things are at least tidily stacked which is an improvement on before.Make £2025 in 2025

Has anyone else finished MK's second book, 'Spark Joy'? I found it different to the first, less vague (there are illustrations for folding and storing, and less of the 'throw it out' and more 'recycle it'). I think MK has realised we don't all live in a small apartment with giant storage space.
The first book on its own was a life-changer. I'm four months into KM, just finished paperwork, which was a long struggle. During those months my attitude to everything, even to myself, has changed and that vague dissatisfaction of living with relics from the past and yearnings for the future is almost gone, even before I tackle Komono. I have been living in the past too long and it's time make some big changes.
Like MavvyMoo I feel the need to move to another location, but have no idea where. Yet.0 -
Procastinator do you have space for a step or maybe a folding step-stool?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Kondoed an item for the bay of flea this morning. The weather started to dry up and brighten up so I have attacked the paperwork!! Four full to bursting ring binders now reduced to two manageable ones (all financial stuff for DH & I) a nice pile ready for me to roll to go on the fire - RoD is not looking much better yet but there are gaps on the shelves which are making my feel joyous! Also managed to kondo a telephone call that I've been meaning to make for a week. Things may be moving slowly but they are movingSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
