Sign the Petition for Womens state pension age going up unfair

As somewhat of a side point, 'Jobcentres' carrying leaflets about pensions would not seem so odd at the time as maybe it does now, because as well as doing the 'job search' functions from the mid 1990s they progressively incorporated the formally separate 'benefit centres' within one building. This latter function has withered away as the years have gone by, although I understand this is still more active in Northern Ireland.0

You would have to visit a job centre to have a chance of seeing one. I have never been in a job centre and luckily have never been out of work since age 16.Some Burke bloke quote: all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to say nothing. :silenced:0 -
The WASPI campaign and 'media message' has been badly handled, I didn't realise a "pro" had been retained. How not to do it, I guess.
The Facebook page could have been somewhere for genuinely ignorant, worried and beleaguered ladies to turn to for help. As it is, it's little more than a soapbox for harpies to spout misinformed rubbish and shout down anyone who exposes their propaganda to robust scrutiny.
Perhaps an Independent Financial Adviser could have helped them to do a better job. Some Burke bloke quote: all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to say nothing. :silenced:0 -
....at least one of whom, a very vocal supporter of the campaign, would stand to benefit personally to the tune of several thousand pounds if WASPI got their "ask".
Many MP's would benefit whither they agreed with a change or not. You can't say that about the 22 year old SNP MP as she is far too young to benefit and was born the year before the 1995 Act.Some Burke bloke quote: all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to say nothing. :silenced:0 -
The rather minor historical point is that at the time it wasn't just a 'Job' centre though, the same office also often functioned as a local benefit office. Instead of it being odd that they stocked pension leaflets, it would have been odd if they hadn't.0

An IFA would have appraised them (twenty years ago) of the facts. I have no doubt that many of them will still have done nothing though.
Why? Because either ten years notice is too long, or it's too short. The pamphlets are too complicated, or they have women on the covers, who are too old. They didn't get a letter, or the letter should have been sent to work where the dog wouldn't have eaten it. Reality is, if you cared then, you'd have done something. The fallacious defence that they did nothing simply because they knew nothing is for many of them, frankly, implausible.
Another sad aspect is the amount of MPs and other assorted industry and advisory 'experts' who see this as an excuse to boost their profile know it's already dead in the water. But instead of these no-marks doing the majority of them a favour and giving them the financial facts of life and focusing instead on those who are deserving of help, they're wringing every last ounce of self absorbed, egocentric value out of it.Independent Financial Adviser.0 -

My comment related to your criticism of the handling of the campaign and the abilities of the pro involved,
I'm sure Independent Financial advisers are competent, ethical and above reproach. Hang on, that doesn't sound right. I'm not sure of that at all. Is anybody? Some Burke bloke quote: all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to say nothing. :silenced:0
