I was responding to the poster who was deriding people for, and I quote for not "reading serious newspapers".
I was pointing out that the information will have been covered in the tabloids just as much as the broadsheets, even if with rather less analysis. I thought it a relevant point to make.0 -
Well, Lizzie Cornish will not find this website the same sycophantic, delete-everything-that-doesn't-agree-with-us, we're-changing-our-'asks'-yet-again place as the WASPI Facebook page.
I've only just looked at the WASPI Facebook page - what an extraordinary amount of misinfornation it includes!0 -
I'm saying that it is fair but the fact that it is a guideline means it doesn't necessarily have to be followed.
Indeed not - the DWP guideline was introduced two years later.
However, as we agree it would be fair that everyone should have 10 years notice, what do you think anyone can do to try to influence government and/or MP's to have that fairness restored to those who had less than 10 years as a result of the 2011 changes?0 -

Most points you raise have been (over?)extensively covered already so I suggest taking some time to read at least some of what has gone before on this thread ,and others
I think many people on this board will be acquainted Ros Altmann's March 2011 briefing ,which is here
http://www.rosaltmann.com/women_spa_house_of_lords_briefing_march2011.htm
The briefing confines itself exclusively to the 2011 act and explicitly accepts the provisions of the 1995 act . You are no doubt aware that the outcome was to successfully obtain some modest but valuable concessions from the government
The WASPI campaign ( Facebook) states
"We are an action group campaigning against the unfair changes to the State Pension Age imposed on women born on or after 6th April 1951 (and how the changes were implemented). This includes both the 1995 and 2011 Pension Acts. "
It is impossible to read the briefing and conclude that it 100% supports the campaign aims.Far from it
For your statement to be true, the campaign would need to restrict itself to addressing only the transition arrangements in the 2011 act and amend it's ask to simply read " All we are asking is for the Government to meet with us"
Both these changes would substantially improve the likelihood of support from the Pensions Minister and greatly increase the campaign's chance of obtaining some betterment ,particularly if the Government can be encouraged to target any concession on those in the greatest financial distress .0 -

Very much so and more worryingly they actually believe it all to be true.0 -

Concentrate only on the 2011 Act and less than 10 years notice for those born between April 1953 and November 1956.0 -

Still irrelevant to my post.
It would have made more sense to quote the post I was responding to, not mine.0 -

They'd also have to include the interests of men affected by the 2011 increase to be taken serious. When asked why men should not get the same 2011 concessions as women, they stated publically that they are WASPI, not MASPI. Equality in action, WASPI-style!0 -

The WASPI campaign and 'media message' has been badly handled, I didn't realise a "pro" had been retained. How not to do it, I guess.
The Facebook page could have been somewhere for genuinely ignorant, worried and beleaguered ladies to turn to for help. As it is, it's little more than a soapbox for harpies to spout misinformed rubbish and shout down anyone who exposes their propaganda to robust scrutiny.Independent Financial Adviser.0
