Hello, Sorry I have been a bit MIA. I have been working through some stuff personally and on a separate note am really starting to feel at peace with myself for the first time ever! That’s for more of an emotional diary though not a debt one! J
I am happy to say that despite my nationwide card slightly increasing, it hasn’t really moved any higher than the highest limit it was before, that I am in a really good position money wise right now and feel confident this is on the right track. Plus I have to keep reminding myself that £300 of this is not my debt. Spending didn’t go to badly for July, only added to the credit card for baby clothes brought for the OH’s nephew and he is going to give me half those anyway. Would have put them on my own bank card but left it at home on the day I made the purchase…honest! J My grandad has given me the money towards my exam so this will also be put onto the card today before I’m tempted to spend the lovely cash. A grand total of £400 being paid off it this month for the Nationwide card. So I will owe the following; £1,151.12 (technically £851.12 is mine) I’m also pleased to say that my Halifax card is now starting with a £2,8 and is £2,854.10 and I have today paid my last but one car payment!!! J I am far from done with paying down the debt but the rate its going I should be all clear before summer next year if not sooner! Before I get on to my plan for next month I just want to point out how useful this diary has been, it has helped me realise how my spending is driven by my emotional behaviour. I have whilst I’ve been away started to journal and its really helped me with certain aspects that I won’t go into on here.
I will update my totals once the balances have cleared. So far so good on Slimming World and I have been attending for 8 weeks as of today, lost 12 pounds! J It’s my eighth weigh in tonight so fingers crossed I will be down some more. I do not have a target weight in mind yet but would like to be down another stone before the end of the year.
Not much else has been happening – relationship wise we are moving forward and making plans. He is still yet to sort his Barclays debt out which is very annoying but promises me he will do it this week, let’s see what happens. Either way I am in a good position to purchase a house next year and be debt free. No more holidays this year, have made a promise to myself. Its already August…How did that happen!!! So I think I can make it until April next year. Plus if I hadn’t gone to Barcelona in May I would have been £500 down on debt. Never mind, life is for living and all that!
Hope everyone has a good day!Total debt when starting Sept 2021 - £14,629.61 / Current debt - £13,398.730 -
Where has 8 months gone! Funny reading back. I should be debt free by now instead i have roughly the same. Its a mix of losing my two stone and buying new clothes and a birthday trip to Rome for the OH. Back on it as from today as i have been meaning to post since last week!Total debt when starting Sept 2021 - £14,629.61 / Current debt - £13,398.730

Morning, caught up on my subscriptions last night and thought i would post an update to my situation. Lots has happened so i will try and keep it brief.
I got down to just having my Halifax card (0% ends in December) but when i called to cancel my Barclay card they offered me 0% on purchases until September. So what did i do..... I brought a laptop (needed at the time for my studies) booked a trip to Rome for my OH's 30th birthday and paid for my car insurance ( i was silly not to save this money over the months) I have almost lost 2 ½ stone with SW and have been buying new clothes like my life depends on it. Moral of the story, don’t move away from the MSE fold as you soon forget what you want which is to be debt free.
Reading back through my MSE diary I did have about £6k+ debt so am proud that this is just under 50% down on this time last year. Although if I’d have stuck to my original plan i would be debt free by now. So new year (well 4 months in!) back to the debt busting, at least i haven't added it to it. I have sat down and decided that i will pay at least £350 to debt this month and that will be going straight to the Barclay card as the 0% on purchases ends first (August i think) I will try to reach £400 but this might be a stretch. I have nothing going on in May apart from my birthday but its not a big one and I need to watch my expenditure.
Some good news I have had is that I have inherited some money which I plan to put towards a house deposit and have booked some viewings for this Saturday coming. I want to save up an additional £5k for fees, stamp duty and odds and sods. Surprisingly it doesn’t matter how much debt I have at the moment, Nationwide will lend me the same amount of money? I think that’s crazy. I have checked my credit score recently and I have a score of 943 out of 999.
Anyway that’s me, back to the daily posts from now on to keep me on track.Total debt when starting Sept 2021 - £14,629.61 / Current debt - £13,398.730 -
Also, help would be great here. I have a save to buy (NW give £1k cash back on mortgages where the balance is £5k+) and a help to buy. Is it worth me drip feeding money into the help to buy until i find the property i want? I have been told my NW that i can use them both together, is this true?Total debt when starting Sept 2021 - £14,629.61 / Current debt - £13,398.730

Morning Abba - thank you for the welcome back. I really need it tbh. The way it keeps you motivated it really helped me first time round so here's hoping it does the same this time.
Today I'm working at the office - made lunch. Over the last few months I have been buying a chicken and splitting it over the week. This has helped me save loads of money. Hoping today is a NSD for me, apart from Slimming World which is £4.95 and already budgeted.
Have a good day xTotal debt when starting Sept 2021 - £14,629.61 / Current debt - £13,398.730 -
