I applied on Monday evening and got the 7 days holding response. I've never had that sort of message when applying for accounts online before. Hopefully it goes through as the £120 would be useful and I would like a new current account anyway due to Nwide being inept. On a mission.0

Letter 16th January said should have had debit card/pin number by now, tried to phone a few times encountered similar problems to an earlier poster, today phoned HSBC telephone banking from a HSBC Branch.
Informed debit card hadnt been ordered with no explanation as to reason for this, regular saver hadnt been opened either from 8 days ago due to backlog of applications.
Said I wanted to make a complaint re shambolic account opening experience, compensation for stress, time spent etc etc.
Outcome debit card being sent out, regular saver account opening prioritised and now open, offered 40.00 compensation. ( Switch I had already organised via Branch appointment due to complete on 29th January)

So you had to go to a branch to get it sorted? If I end up having to do that, the possible £40 compensation wouldn't be enough imo!0 -

Again on 'salary going into the account'....there's no way they could say either way where that money has come from. For all they know you are self employed, yes you say what your employment status is when you apply, but seriously, you think they'll be looking out for who paid you?!0

They can easily see whether you were paid by a company or organisation (BACS) or an individual (FP or cash deposit). They can also find out who made a BACS or FP payment if they really want to. Whether they would really want to is a different matter.0

Ok, appointment sorted in branch for tomorrow, after it turns out they think they sent me a letter saying that I could have a regular but not an advance account. Ho hum, fair enough as I'm between jobs right now so they are probably focusing on that, but I wonder if they take any account of net worth or investment income, as that could make it an interesting meeting :-)
Worst case it will be a very short lived account once the £120 is banked, as a 4% reg saver isn't high on my priority list!0 -

Fortunately I was accepted for the Advance account straight off this time around.0 -
