I did the neighbours alterations and returned them last night. She didn't ask how much she owed me, and was on the phone so I didn't say! Which was stupid of me as I will struggle to ask for it now.
Prepare an invoice and drop it off as soon as you can, maybe with a note asking that she uses the shop in future.

Or maybe, if you don't want to be that formal to a neighbour, just knock on the door and ask if you could have the money for the alterations, which will be £15 (or whatever the right price is). Don't let it slide though. You did the work; you deserve to be paid.

Really good news about how well your shop is doing. Good staff are worth every penny. Pity they don't quite get along, but hey, if it's helpful to you to have them, then it's probably worth it. With one caveat - as long as you remember to pay yourself too.

If you finish something according to what the client wants, then, having seen the final product, they want changes, why don't the changes have to be paid for?

Completely agree!! Don't for one second let her think it was a freebie, otherwise you'll be inundated with her friends. Get that invoice to her, and stipulate payment methods. No negotiations. If she comes back to question it just point out you run a business, you're not a charity.

I think I missed that opportunity. I also find them rather intimidating, so I will probably end up letting it go. But won't do any more for them at home. I will tell them to go to the shop.

DGD is up and down, and the strops and meltdowns are frequent.
Today will be interesting as she was in and out of my room last night driving me nuts, so she's going to be tired.
I was so tired that I was in bed around 8pm. So she will need a shower to wash her hair as I forgot last night.
Bought her yet more school uniform from Asda in MK yesterday. So I have name tapes to sew on to them.
My Facebook Memories came up with the guardianship being finalised 4 years ago! Where did that time go?
On the work front were plodding through the jobs, although there is one bridesmaids dress that is no longer required! There seems to have been a falling out between them and the bride has cancelled it.
But I have still a lot of work to do, with several lots of curtains just waiting for the accessories to arrive.
They will be here any day.
Right, I had best get going!
    Have a good one everybody.

Usual drama with DGD before school. No longer Stoptober chat with mums just get straight to work - I need a cup of tea after drama class!
Actually did a upcycle make before work started, then a few jobs before I spent 2 1/2 hours measuring and cutting up the curtains on order.
I will start to sew them tomorrow as the tape and rings hadn't arrived, although they were in the shed when I got home.
Straight from DGD collection to babysitting other grandchildren so Biggest of Mooloo can start dancing again.
Juggling three kids was tough, when 8 month old decides he doesn't know you very well, that dinner was not going down well so he'd cough, then be sick, while the girls tried it on, and I tried to clear up sick! But we got there in the end, however I did have two glasses of wine after I'd got home, changed DGD's bedding and sorted sone of her room out. Joined Biggests Forever Living Web thingy and watched a recorded NCIS, and the Heir Hunters.
Staff has day off tomorrow, and I'm on 1/2 day as they are coming to inspect for asbestos tomorrow afternoon. Here at home.

Rising Damp! That's the verdict today.
The asbestos test results will come in eventually.
DGD was slightly better today, but still had to be prised off of me at school drop off.
In work early, and did more on the curtains before opening, but serving in shop meant little else sewn by me. Seamstress worked on new machine in shop, she's happy with it anyway.
I've spent the evening writing my diary and focussing on a few small challenges to get me back on track.
    Time for bed now.

I'd like to say I have woken full of vim and vigor, but it wouldn't be quite true.
I woke around 6am and tried to go back to sleep, but gave up around 6.40 and made my cup of tea. Then spent 40 minutes doing catch up on emails, bank balances and social media! Oops.
Last night DGD was experimenting with food colouring, water, and salt, and although we cleared most of it up, I can still feel salt on the floor under my slippers. Guess I will be washing the floor again after work.
I'm going to be downstairs in the shop till 12.30, and sewing on the industrial machine if I can. Time to practise as there is no point avoiding it.
Once staff is in I will be upstairs working on the curtains that I cut out on Tuesday, and started to sew yesterday morning.
There is a lot to do, so doing some every day is important, but I still have odd jobs In between, that require my attention.

After work and DGD pick up, I need to declutter the kitchen and sitting room, they seem to be imploding on me again.
Right tea number two finished. Time to get on.

Yeah! School without a complete meltdown.
Bit late by a minute or so but she's in and less fuss about school dinners!
But wants me to buy bread for sandwiches tomorrow.
The sun is shining, and I'm at work. Yet another cup of tea!
While I assess the whiteboard and what needs doing.
    18 jobs plus the curtains.
So off I go to unlock the door and let the world in. Industrial machine here I come, ready or not!

Hi Mooloo, I thought of you this morning, you with your 18 jobs, me with my loads of stuff to pack up and get away. It's been a long day. I hope you got a lot of your jobs finished. I am now trying to get ahead of tomorrow's load. Sometimes I find work so tiring I wonder how those who work 20 hours or so a week and give themselves days off every week manage.
