Mooloo's little tapestry of life, 2016

We had a lovely day yesterday and drove about 45 minutes up the coast to another town on the sea front. Had a lovely day st the beach, and then had dinner in the hotel and watched the live entertainment and the wifi connected audience! Who didn't care about the entertainment surprisingly.
Played cards in the room, and DGD has a strange way of playing and really does need to learn how to shuffle!
Slept in this morning and missed breakfast. But we have eaten so much lately that I doubt it will matter, and lunch is served in 2 hours!
I have definitely over eaten this holiday and will need to go on a healthy lifestyle when I get back.
Today is our last full day, and the sun has gone into hiding. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Last day in "paradise", well Portugal.
Although I have been awake for the last hour and a half! Sitting up in bed waiting for the alarm to go off so I can disturb DGD and go and make a cup of tea before we go up to the dinning room for breakfast. Our last meal here. We will have to pay for anything else we have. Our taxi is this evening at 6pm so I was lucky to be able to keep the room until 4pm
The advantage of having a Prestige card then.
The weather was not very good yesterday and is not predicted to be today, so we will be using the indoor pool this morning. The car has to go back at 12 noon, and we will need a taxi back.the car will have to be filled up with petrol again too.
I may have to find a hole in the wall and withdraw some funds as I only have €30 left which won't cover everything.
The bank balance at home is ok, and I have shifted funds about still while I have been out here.
I have had enough in the business account to pay the wages, and the rent while out here, which is good.
The shop is open today so I hope there will be plenty of work for the seamstress and me to do this week.
Although with the housing association coming on Wednesday to the house to start ripping the plaster off the walls etc, I am not sure how much time I will be stuck at home.
With no access to the loo I will have problems as I already struggle to hang on! The housing also say that I have to be there while the workmen are in the house. in my opinion it would have been better to go in while I was away and do the work.
The weather here is cold and wet, so I will find it easier to leave and come back home this time.
My head has been in work mode quite a lot while sitting around and I have a long todo list when I am back.
Staff said there is plenty of work in, and lots of fittings booked in to keep me busy. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Luck is on my side then. We were able to also have lunch here.
DGD met her little friends at breakfast and they went to the kids club, ( finally open now we are leaving), so she hasn't gone swimming she went there, and I took the car back, and was back here by 1130 and able to have a cup of tea and do 99% of the packing. At least I seam to have managed to pack her float ie although two French lads have "found" her football. I have said that I will buy her a new one at home also cannot pack it anyway.
The sun has been in and out and it really is April showers here.
I have been on a wild goose chase hunting down her swimming goggles, as she needs them if she goes into the pool before the end of the day.
She had lost them in the park yesterday.
But now I can sit and relax for an hour before check out.
Possibly time for a beer, as I still have a bottle in the fridge and I don't have any driving to do here or at home.
I am hoping to do a bit more walking around to and from school and work to help me walk off some excess weight I have managed to put on eating three big meals a day, and drinking alcohol everyday for the last 10 days.
So I am raising a glass to my Dad, Who died a year ago today! Cheers Dad, and Mum is doing ok, I spoke to her on Skype earlier in the day. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
What a long day yesterday ended up being. The flight left early and landed even earlier due to tail winds. Although we landed 45 minutes early it still took a long time to get through security etc. Then we also lost 20 more minutes driving home in the fog. I am so glad I had ordered a taxi, and didn't have to drive in such weather. I felt so sorry for the driver who had to drive all the way back to Birmingham at 1am.
Today was a busy day getting back in to our routine. But I did get a lot of work finished and plenty came in. A good start to our new financial year.
My new sewing machines arrive on Thursday. So excited.
The housing are due here tomorrow so I don't get to go to work to start with anyway. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well my plans didn't go quite to plan. I went to bed early to read, but DGD kept coming in and would not settle. Then I woke just after 4.am and st 5am I gave up trying to sleep and went on line and did myself an up to date SOA!
So I know where I stand financially anyway.
The housing duelly started to arrive and work began. While an electrician started to remove the extractor in the bathroom ( and I cleaned all the parts), the plumber cut off the water and removed the sink. Then the brickies arrived to chip off all the plaster, and I thought great it's all going to plan. While I had to clear the spare room (junk room!) into my (was lovely) bedroom so they could remove the floors to put in the new extractor. Great you think, but Erm nope all tools downed when they decided they have to make a hole in the ceiling and as it is painted artex possibly it could mean asbestos so all tools downed, lots of phone calls, and work stopped and everyone left. We have to have an inspection before they go ahead.
Meanwhile I had to wait until after 2pm for the plumber to come back and put the sink on the wall again!
Oh and now I have cleaned up said bathroom and kitchen to be able to use them, and hoovered the junk room, and only now have to move stuff back again so I can get back into bed tonight!
The bonus? I unblocked the Hoover, the sink trap got cleared out, as was fairly blocked, the kitchen surfaces were cleaned, the Windows wiped, the stairs got hoovered, and I walked to and from school as the vans were blocking in the car. So fuel saved, and extra exercises achieved with all the physical work and walking.
I had to use the loo across the road while workers were here, so I actually put in my repeat prescription while using doctors facilities.
I also got to talk to Mum on the Skype and got her to sort out her fuel bill, resulting in her getting £136 credits refunded.
So whereas a few years ago I would have been focussing on the loss of income, the inconvenience and feeling stressed out, I just acknowledged the problem, had s small grumble and got on with it!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi Mooloo,
welcome back! With all that activity going on, Portugal must seem like a dream?0 -
Hi Mooloo,
welcome back! With all that activity going on, Portugal must seem like a dream?
Thankyou.
Portugal was very quiet and predictable that's more than I can say for my life normally!
But at least I kept busy here all day, and all evening. I'm hoping I will sleep now! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well I slept much better. Although I fell back to sleep at my 6 o'clock alarm and just woke up now! Oops.
Good job I have more than one alarm set! I have one set for 7.25 that I wake DGD on!
I will just have time for the morning routine, and not my hypnosis cd now.
Oh well, I knew I was tired. Eyes feel quite gritty at the moment.
My new to me, industrial machines arrive today! Thought I'd be more excited and I'm not.
Now the business should really start to change.
I have had to cancel the sewing patterns, as I made such a loss in the last financial year, but I will use the books and order via someone else for the rest of this season anyway.
The industrial embroidery machine will move down into the shop I think. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
