Mooloo, that's great news! Isn't it fab when your plan to pay off debt works a treat! I micromanage our accounts too and am manging to stay out of everything but the main overdraft. Here's to a great 2016 for you and I and anyone else trying to build a small business.0

My friend helped me kick start the blitz. It was in my bedroom that I started and facing up to my hording tendencies!
I cleared out cupboards and drawers, removed furniture from the room to bring my sewing table in, as I eventually will be sorting out the rooms to move DGD.
I stopped at Lunchtime to meet up with my Mum and my Brother on another flying visit from France. Delivered some games tables to Biggest for her friends after school club.
Then back home I decided to sort out my wardrobe as well as the room.
Stopped about 7.30
Time to eat now.
Working tomorrowWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I am awake. The alarm went off at 6.10 and all I want to do is go back to sleep. But the bedside light is on, I have made a cup of tea with my trusty travel kettle, and I have sifted through my emails, so I am awake now.
The wind is blowing a gale down the chimney vents, which doesn't make me want to get out of the bed though.
Needs must though or I won't achieve anything today! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I wondered why I couldn't see this post in the travel forum- Sorry Mooloo- must have had two windows open to MSEI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I haven't heard of it Duchy.
I broke down today coming back from Oxford. The radiator has gone on the car! So I had to have the AA as I was on the motorway. Luckily I didn't have DGD with me, as she's with her Mum till Thursday.
On the work side I have had two days off, but on Saturday I didn't finish the curtains that I started so I will be going in early again.
On Saturday I broke my tooth on a muffin so I have to go to the dentist at 10am tomorrow.
So broken tooth, broken car, what's the next hick up going to be?
Oh well it will all work out in the end.
Also on the work side I have ordered two industrial machines for the shop, second hand ones of course but I think that they are needed to grow the business. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
i'm interested to know how you get on with the industrial machines Mooloo, what models have you managed to pick up? Also which of your machines have you been using previously when you have done upholstery type jobs?- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted
- Student Loan gone
Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps0 -
It will be very interesting as I have never used any industrial machine before, but my seamstress has so I will work with her I hope, and that it may make a difference. Certainly should do with her.
I have ordered a Brother B755-3 lock stitch and a tysew-1100-1 blind stitch hemmer.
If I can master the blind stitch hemmer then I could speed up the curtain hemming currently done by hand, and of course trousers etc.
Currently I jump from machine to machine depending on where in the shop I am!
I use a Bernetta, for the heavier fabrics when I am in the sewing room,
I use a janome for hems, patching and general sewing when I am in the shop and I tend to use the Silver Basic 25/3 for teaching and curtains up in the workshop.
But I also use a brother but I can't remember the model.
I also use the Toyota Jeans at home, and a Mylock overlocker. In the shop I use both the silver and the janome overlockers depending which one the threads are set up on!'When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well I am awake, set the alarm for 6am wanted to turn over and go back to sleep as it was still dark. But instead I had a cup of tea, did a survey for some points, read my emails checked my bank balances and generally faffed about while I drank my tea. But finally I am up and on my second cup of tea, the heating is on and I am going to go for my shower etc then walk down to work!
Not part of the plan really but the car needs attention and I don't really have the funds until Wednesday and then I go on holiday on Friday. So it's a toss up as to weather it goes into the garage before or after the holidays. It's got to be done ofcourse, but there is the cost to think about.
I have the dentist at 10 so I want to get into work early so I can finish some curtains if possible.
So I better get off of here and go do something!
Have a good day everyone. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi Mooloo, on youtube there are some videos about setting up and using blind hemmers. They might be worth a look if you are not familiar with them because they can be fiddly to set up.
We, back in the dark ages and with a different partner, had a company that, among other things, made and sold childrens clothes. All I can remember about trying to use a blind hemmer is not being able to get over the psychological affect of a machine being able to use a curved needle.
Do you have an industrial flatbed sewing machine? I found them really quick to use compared to my domestic machine.
Bad luck about your car. Could you maybe put it into the garage before you go away and collect and pay for it when you get back? At least that way you wouldn't be facing a couple of weeks without it when you came back.0 -
The industrial flat bed is on order. I shall probably live on YouTube when I start.
I put the car in the garage today and will get it back after the holidays. Luckily I can walk to work and have a taxi to the airport.
DGD is due back home tomorrow.
I still have a lot to get done before we are off! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
