O.M.G. brides! The lady downstairs has been telling me she's got a size 18 bride to be trying to get into her size 14 to 16 wedding dress and wants it "let out". The wedding is 6 months away. When I asked why couldn't the bride slim down for the wedding, she said she "didn't like to ask". This I can understand! She went on to say the bride wants "at least 4 inches" let out but there aren't even 2 inches of seams to let out. Sounds like the bride to be will be dieting after all.

It did make me wonder, though, if some jobs are simply not worth taking on.

I did look into buying a quarter share in a housing association town house - all we could afford if we want to stay in this location. But the thing is, despite paying rent on the balance ( it was £282 a month, so do-able), when it comes to repairs and maintenance, that all falls on the shoulders of the quarter share homeowner. Something not immediately apparent until one wades through the fine print. Also, while I may not live another 20 years to see it, housing association rentals have their bathrooms and kitchens replaced every 20 years plus the floors redone up here.

It's great that you even started a business, much less one doing well enough to pay you something and employ people after less that 2 years. That's pretty amazing when you consider 76% of all businesses, including our own, don't employ anyone other than the owners.

The bride we squeezed in yesterday, getting married at the end of the month required a panel in the back of the dress, 12" wide and 14" deep. 8" at the centre. Then it is laced up at the back with a ribbon.
Then the bust needs taking in on the cups by about two inches either side, so lace and diamant! etc have to be removed and then replaced.
Maybe your size 18 lady needs the panel in the back, and the zip replaced with rouille and lace ups!

Today we were able to catch up on work as both of us stayed late. The shop was quiet in the day, and we shut at 1pm and we continued sewing. This gave us a good catch up on the work and means tomorrow I can use the industrial machine on the curtains and by Friday I should be caught up with most of the outstanding works.

This afternoon has been busy as I collected DGD from school, did the dentist, then home to load wood into the car, dropped it at DS's, then went to Biggest of Mooloo's to drop off a book, then to my Mums to cut her lawns, and a quick cup of tea before taking DGD to the park, we had an ice cream and then home.

It was a bit of a day!
Ds lives in a village 8 miles away, but luckily on the way to my Mums a further 4 miles away and about 5 minutes from my Daughter.
So logistically we did a circle really.

In the last 24 hours I could really tell you a story about my life and the happenings. Horror! Probably!
I'm actually exhausted and am off to bed, however as the quickest update.
I collected twin2 and BF from the railway station at 5pm
By 7pm I was " loosing the will to live", the BF is ermmmmm, LOUD,
Childish, and Erm,? Can't think of a word that's not confirming. The thought that they are staying a week is mind boggling and if I didn't drink too much before then I probably will.
( well probably not as I have to finish my curtains that hit delayed due to a rush of bridezillas, who have either lost too much weight and need dresses taken in - again!
Or who are pregnant, or who thought they would loose it and didn't!
It "was the week that was!"
I'm just relieved my curtain lady was not in a rush, the delay will help her budget! But I hate taking longer than planned to do a job.
It's not about the money, as I don't change my fee, what I quoted stays the same ( except if the cost of the raw materials change then I have to pass that on).
I'm half way through my big order and know that I'm nearly there, although cutting out all the holes for the rings in the tape will be the most time consuming one.

Got to sleep now as I've work tomorrow x

I love my daughter, it's lovely to see her, but no matter how I try, her boyfriend is a total idiot.
I am really struggling. I am usually a people person, can suffer fools gladly, but on this occasion I'm really struggling.
And I have until next Friday to do so.
I'd like to say a few good words, but my vocabulary has escaped me.

A full day at home to catch up on things. Ofcourse it's a lovely day and I'd rather be out and about. But housework beckons, or we will be lost amongst the piles of laundry and paperwork mountains I seem to have amassed.
So far I've washed up, put out the recycling and loaded up the washing machine. Just realised it was the last laundry tab, so I will need to pop to get more to do the school uniforms etc.
I've taken the lawn mower out of the shed ready to attack the lawn but decided I need a cup of tea first!!
Everyone else are still up in the rooms. So st least I am having some peace and relative quiet. (The neighbours back yard garage is open and vehicles are coming and going!)
I've been invited to a friends BBQ in Oxford this evening, so I may just leave DGD here with her Auntie for the evening and go.
I hardly ever get to go to Oxford these days.
    Something to look forward too.

Have a great time in Oxford. It does sound like you deserve a break, from all your family, the house, work. Can't the lawn wait until next weekend....?

I really think you'r doing too much
You keep saying how tired you are,
could your mum at least have a gardener in to cut her grass and someone to help with jobs in the house , even if just once a week
if not it will mostly be you who's doing that as well as your own

Well it was nice to just sit, enjoy a beautiful garden and have my dinner cooked for me.
But I was up at 6.20 and home by 7.38 to get DGD up for school and her swim test.
    I was in work before 9am but I didn't see a stitch!
I spent the whole day on the computer doing the accounts etc for the business.
Yes I am tired, and I always seem to be tired these days.
I quite enjoy doing a little bit for my Mum every now and then, but funnily enough doing my own is the chore.
You should have been a fly on the garden fence yesterday!
I was cutting the lawn, up and down, in sections. Garden furniture moved as I went, the last 40ft of garden to do when the BF of twin2 offered to help. ( they had only just got out of bed!), and it was nearly lunchtime.
Anyway, he proceeded to use the mower as if it was a Hoover! Up and down and around, managed to mow down the one and only set of flowers, and managed to miss loads of the grass, leaving the dandelions standing!
He managed to break the trampoline too!
Tonight when I got home from work they were filling up the new paddling pool, twin2 joined DGD in it, not a problem, and then it went windy and cold so they came in all wet and giggly. Twin2 went for a bath, I wanted to start tea, couldn't find the lighter for the gas, he said it was outside, so I actually had to ask him to go and get it.
He ran outside, straight into the Whirly gig! So funny.
I'm doing Lasagne for monkey and me, but they are planning on going to the pub to eat!
I see he has had a DLA back payment, ( or something similar ) and it is burning a hole in his pocket.
It infuriates me as I know that in a few days I'll get asked for money for food! And don't get me started on the amount of junk food they eat!!!
No wonder they don't have any money for long!
