I think i would think about changing ISP to someone who doesn't have bandwidth packages, They are quite old. Mostly standard ADSL packages are unlimited.0

There is another provider of the internet in that area other than KC without the need for a phone line in that area.

I had hoped you might have appreciated what you did was wrong but clearly you don't. I don't think that reflects well on you but if you don't care then I doubt anyone else does.
In the grand scheme of life I do not careBut I can appreciate that you do so I'll agree to disagree with you

Yes
Karoo (KC) is Kingston-upon-Hull and surrounding areas and they have the broadband monopoly there because they also own the phone system (a monopoly successive governments have allowed to stand) and do not allow any other ISPs to use it or install kit in their exchanges.
Well they're not totally closed off but its not really cost effective for anyone else to offer their services on their network.Dont rock the boat

Hi chaps, just to follow up on this spoke to the company and they agreed to half the charges. I have also moved the package to a higher one for the following months so as not to let this happened again.
Kind regards
By the way for context to the people on this thread that got all preachy - Situation is I'm a student thats moved back home. When I said 'I' I meant my parents. The usage doubling is because I came home for xmas and essentially have been watching youtube/playing games all dayWifi password is safe, usage is normal and legal, no free-loaderss. Cheers

Well watching !!!!!! isn't necessarily perverted (we all do it occasionally, well a good number of people - not 50gb worth like but you know), and not all media streaming is pirated (hence "sometimes illegally" phrase).
I kindly ask you to enlighten me as to how you can use up 50gb a month if it doesn't involve any of the following:
1. Legal video streaming (movies and youtube)
2. Legal game streaming
3. Illegal video and game streaming
4. !!!!!!
5. Browsing half (minor exaggeration) of the wikipedia library @ a few kb per page
You missed off one the biggest legal usages of data, and thats downloading games from steam.
with many modem games averaging 30-40gb and some even more than that, 50gb will you get 2 games if you are lucky.
i use 300-500gb a month, and thats almost exclusively using Steam and netflix/nowtv0
