Spent this morning sorting out a new tariff for my Gas/Electricity. Now on price fix until April 2017.
Also been looking at Breakdown cover for me and OH - the renewal quote was £144. As a new customer it would be £129 but they wouldn't budge on price so I told them I would look elsewhere. Green flag seem to be quite good value plus cashback offer on quidco - anyone else used them? What's their service like?
OH has made a lasagne for tonight's dinner (meant to have it last night but I ate at my sisters and he was backshift) and later today I will do some HM cookies or fairy cakes as snacks.
Just about to put a washing on and I need to finish off some Ironing later on this afternoon. Other than that I am off out to meet a friend for a coffee and a catch up - not very frugal I know but it's a nice wee treat.0 -
Hello been lurking and now I'm fully up to date reading the thread. Some good tips I've been living a frugal life since 2003 but more so over the last 2 years. I took early retirement with a small pension but no debts or mortgage, each year I've been trimming off the bills. xWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0

Evening all
Welcome to the Fred HowMuch and good luck with the challenge.I'm trying to pad the order out with long-life foods - I just can't for the life of me figure out what I need / am likely to use before even I look at the dates on it and throw it awayChecked prices of honey, maramalade and vinegar at A1di today, and they're all that much cheaper there that if I filled my Mr T order with those I'd be overpaying by more than the additional £4 delivery charge - so they're non-starters in my eyes.

Welcome HOWMUCH! Great start!:j
I can't believe I still have this tummy upset! The cramps are the worst. I've been eating bits and Bob's, so today I'm going to fast to see if I can get rid of it completely.
My DD1 asked me to go shopping but I had to bow out. I'm a wee bit glad as I don't want any temptation no matter how small.

Thank you for the nice warm welcome everyone, I've also been stretching meals to do extra portions too by adding grated carrot to shepherds pie, chilli, lasagna. My next thing I've picked up some green lentils YS to 40p from £2 in M&S so I shall be adding them too to some dishes. The best part about the grated carrot is no one has even noticed. I've done it at my DD too as sometimes I cook at her house whilst I look after DGS, if she got soft carrots. They never commented either, she's just had extra and commented that chilli has lasted longer mum did you make more? xWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0

Nice productive day so far - volunteering done (I do a couple of days a week in my local British Heart Foundation shop), fairy cakes made, swished/swiped upstairs bedrooms, washing put on and just about to be hung up.
My sister is coming round tonight. We set up or own weight loss support group after the New Year since we both wanted to lose some weight but didn't want to go to a club - I find them quite impersonal as well as expensive. We are both doing our own thing and doing quite well. I am following Paul McKenna's system as I can work easily around it and I don't have to buy any special foods.0 -
Hello 2 more NSD's = 5
CW if you have a foodbank near you-the option could be to buy some food along with your own groceries and donate to the foodbank- just a thought x:hello::coffee:Penny Pincher in training

Hi frugalites!
I'm feeling much better today and have been 'spring cleaning' my friends house! He has the buyers coming around again tomorrow so he asked me to give it a spruce up.
By the time I get home the shops will be shut so no temptation there, so that will be 8 NSD' s for me! :T
I think tonight's dinner will be homemade soup. I'm not sure what kind is left in the freezer, but I know I will have to made another batch as I'm running low.
My sister is in work this evening so hopefully if there is any food going to be binned, it will have my name on it! All perfectly good but it's policy to bin it! Insane!
My weekly free food enables me to eat very well for next to nothing. Whatever I get, either free or YS...I don't buy full price....I share with others and use almost a 'barter' system. When someone does something for me or buys me something. I will make them a meal or two, or share my food items with them. Such a nice system!
I'm hoping the weather will be fine tomorrow as I have a lot of errands to do. I need a good walk as well, as I've spent most of this week indoors with my poorly tummy.:(
Well I'd better get back to the cleaning!Living a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T
