My frugalness may start improving, DS1 finally moved out today and he is into healthy eating, no cheap stuff for him. So tomorrow morning instead of doing my weekly shop I am going to go through cupboards, fridge and freezer and make a list. The last couple of months have seen two of my DS's move out so I should see a reduction in my weekly food spend. My other frugal target this month is the petrol for my car, goodness knows where I have been but my car seems to be drinking the stuff, seem to have been putting in petrol nearly every week recently, this has got to stop. Will fill the car up this weekend and that will have to do tll the end of the month.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000

Amber when our DS moved out our food bill dropped by more than half I think it was about £200 to be exact there's only 2 of us now and the most I pay if £150 and that's if I've been stock piling bargains. On the petrol front we made a proactive decision not to just nip here and there in the car. If it's in walking distance then I do, OH has mobility problems so we only use the car if he's coming along. So far this year £53.95 is our fuel bill, I do know everyone's needs are different. We only go shopping every 7 to 10 days this has cut the petrol down.
If I'm out and near a supermarket I'll pop in and look for YS foods which is what I refer to when I said cheap food not as in poor cheap quality. Quite often it's the taste the difference brand and finest brand which have YS .
Know what you have in the store cupboards help. Oh and I invested in a granny shopping trolly which actually are becoming rather trendy with younger people too. xWhy pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
I had to pop to the green grocers today just to pick up onions! 39p so didn't have a NSD
I have been given a super load of food! :j
1 spitroast chicken = £5,
12x bread rolls = £1
1 block of butter £1
2 x mixed salad =£3
10 x lamb steaks = £ 14
I can't believe the restaurant was throwing them out! I'm making Irish stew and also roasting some steaks to have with veg and mint sauce!
I have potatoes and carrots in but had no onions for the Irish stew. Almost a completely free stew! :TLiving a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T
