DomR what factories have you locally? usually good for freebies, here we have a card and paper mill, l got aroll end of white card, (cereal box weight) a food wrapping mill, l got a roll of silver foil type stuff, (like biscuits and Jaffa cakes are wrapped in) and a cellophane mill, got roll ends of blue, red, orange and clear cellophane. only about 18 inches high, but good for wrapping. they last for years, and make great bunting, backgrounds and chair bows, and table covers. oh, and a cloth factory, huge bag of 'mistakes and marked' fabric, so if you have anything like that locally, you could get a load of free stuff to decorate with. You just need to ask the HR department.
My spotty DGN fell yesterday, and chipped a lump off her front tooth! she has only had it about 2 months, her mum is devastated and feels like the worst mother in the world.
DDs party went really well, she made just over £100, and everybody went home happy with their purchases and freebies, so, win, win.
Peppa, yaaay on needing only 2 more chemos hang on in there!

I live in a city, so no mills nearby! Managed to sort out a couple of bits from friends who have stashes, and going to decorate some empty boxes with wrapping paper to make giant pressies.

Nic, my advice is a bit late, and might not be wanted, but, kids are kids. You have dealt with your boy, and he knows what he did has got him to this point, but, if you isolate him from the gang they will poke fun at him. If you say 'last chance' the others will goad him into action, making him the bad boy again. l would tell the other mum that you have dealt with him and that's it. lf she isn't happy then let her remove her little angel from the situation. Once that brat has gone it will show that your boy was not the problem.

Nic - I have read back and I totally agree with Mrs I's advice. You have sorted it, your boy knows he has done wrong, this is his opportunity to show he has learnt that he reacted wrong way and wont do it again. You are doing the right thing in keeping the lines of communication open between the two of you x Let the other mother sort her child out, sounds like she needs to!

    Welcome newbies!
peppa- glad you had a chilled day yesterday- long may that vibe continue!
Dom ravioli- if you can cadge some foil wrapping paper to wrap the boxes the will look bigger than they are due to the foil being a light reflective surface (and therefore make up a bigger display area). Also if you look on pinterest for some basic cardboard box fireplaces (Im talking just really basic cardboard box builds that just need a bit of paint- again the £shop could be your friend here). You could place the presents round them if you can make a couple. Try your local supermarkets for boxes.

Off to moms in a bit to put up a new outside light as hers has gone kaput. DH is is not gifted when it comes to DIY (understatement) so I apologise if anyone in the Birmingham area hears any profuse language in the next couple of hours!!
    lovin' this site!

  • Hello
I've still not had time to read through yet so hopefully I will get time to do that next week and reply appropriately to what's still relevant,.
Amazon said they would refund me the money because the seller is being such a bum hole, claiming that I have used tem as free costume hire, money grabbing sods.
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it yet but at the works they're selling 3 adults christmas books for £5 and hamper baskets with cellophane and ribbon (not sure of the price)
And those that are in to adults colouring books they have them too I got a small one for £5 bit pricey in my opinion tho but they're popular at the minute so prices will be bumped up.
    Got OH's dads gifts started.
Can't help but buy stuff for my niece still. And made a start on the best friend and a few other members of my ohs family.
Does anyone know how to book a box at the theatre? Been trying to figure it out for ages as my parents would like that so we're going halfs on it with my brother and my sil, but we can't figure out how to do it for the life of us.

Good Morning all, DH and DS are going out for the day so its just me and DD today. We got a fun girlie day planned, she is currently glittering and sequin arting lol She is alot better than she was but we still going to stay in for today. Ordered some Kickers stuff for hubby on sports direct yesterday. He loves it for knocking about in got him 2 tshirts, a hoodie and some trackie bottoms. Also managed to get DD a basketball vest top and shorts too. She is basketball crazy! £40 delivered to store! Money well spent I think xx Also ordered DS a set of speakers and Man utd top online. That is it until payday now lol

flubberyzing- fab name! Isnt it good when you know you are nearly done, it takes all the pressure off.
nic2075- You have dealt with the situation fantastically! If the other mother is not happy, tough! Your child has been honest and is dealing with the consequences xx If she keeps pushing it remember that she is the one causing a situation, not your son. To be fair, it seems that the other adults have caused bad feeling, as kids will always be kids!Hope that makes sense xx
mrsm- have been eyeing that magazine up, thanks for the heads up as I can look at a different one now xxx
Clumsy42- glad your pics went well x
mandco- ooh sanctuary salt scrub is SO good x That was good that you managed to get your No7 advent calenders. I bought dd and I a make up one from wilkos but I may purchase the Tanya Burr 12 days of christmas one also as I have just got into her products. Her eyebrow palette is amazing!!!
sss2000-welcome and I love december too! I managed to get some ideas from my kids by getting the smyths toy catalogue, m and m direct catalogue etc and making them sit with a felt tip and put a ring around what they liked. Then DD wrote a letter to santa, well she written 3 now lol x luckily the main gift has never changed, an amazon kindle fire.
Peppa- I dare not look at christmas decorations as I have tooooo many and none of them match. Our christmas tree is very colourful and the only theme is the kids lol xx I may buy a small tree for the kitchen and buy some nice copper ornaments for it xx
murie-im impressed by your skills, I would not know where to start with DIY with electrical stuff xx
missmoose- Im glad amazon are refunding you, how rude that the seller has said that to you. I cannot help with the theatre booking hope somebody else can help you xx what a lovely idea though x

Thanks again ladies for the advice, all good and much appreciated. I feel better about it today.

I had a lovely day today. My sister DD(11) and I went to the crafts for Chrsitmas fair at the SECC in Glasgow. One of those big ones that are usually at the NEC etc too. We had a lovely day looking at nice hand made gifts, trying samples of cheese, fudge and wine and buying Christmas craft kits to make. My daughter is a total xmas nut (ive taught her well lol) and she wants to try decopatchimg letter that spell out XMAS with nice papers and then hang them. So it's something we can try together. I spent too much money all in and came away with 6 tubes of that realistic snow powder, I only wanted one but the guy seen me coming :rotfl:

  • Evening everyone, it was Thumpers birthday today and with all the presents and balloons and the family here it felt quite christmassy so we put the first christmas film on that we saw on netflix and ended up watching Home Alone :D I bought the sainsburys christmas food mag and Good Food christmas mags yesterday so looking forward to sitting down to see what goodies to bake for christmas.

MRSM0NEYPENNY can i ask where you got the Ultimate Christmas magazine from because i have the voucher as well but i couldnt see it anywhere yesterday?

NIC i was going to say exactly the same as MRSINVISIBLE you have dealt with it and after your DS apologises it should be left alone, i would stand firm and if she doesnt agree then she should move her DS to the room, dont be blaming yourself, kids are kids and us mums always take it personally, but you can do no more than you have done my lovely

MRSINVISIBLE glad your DD made some money from her sale, aww your poor DGN and her poor mummy for thinking she is the worst mum

04624181 glad DD is feeling a bit better, i love that the elf cheered her up!

FLUBBERYZING its nice to feel as if we are making progress isnt it?

    SSS2000 hi and welcome

MURIE i hope the fitting of the new outside light went well for your mum

MISSMOOSE can you not ring the box office for the theatre you want and ask them? Glad you are getting your refund from Amazon, i hope i never buy from the seller you used!!

  • Free Happy birthday to Thumper! Sounds like you all had a lovely day! :)

Been busy over the past two weekends buying some presents for Mum and Dad for Christmas: Joggers and socks for Dad, slippers and perfume for Mum. I'm also collecting the plastic £5 notes to put in the Christmas cards that I give to the younger members of the family - Mum has very kindly given me 4 in exchange for a £20 so don't need many more now.

Welcome to the newbies & sorry for being a bit lax with posting on the thread - l'm afraid that real life gets in the way! :rotfl: Hope that everyone's preparations for Christmas are going well as the big day is not far away now - only 55 days! :xmastree:
