Firstly thank you for offering me advise. The reason why I couldn't volunteer is because I have to pay for transport which will eat into my JSA.

How would you attend job interviews?

How do you attend JSA appointments?

Why can't you volunteer for a local firm (one you can walk to)? Even if it just gets you socialising and gaining confidence?

Why don't you volunteer once or twice a week to cut down on your weekly travel expenses?

    Lots of solutions.

For example, I've seen an ad for apprentice chips fryer what chance do I have left?

This is exactly what is wrong.
    Everyone just exploits employment law.
You can be an 'apprentice' shelf stacker now.
An apprentice should be something like an 'apprentice plasterer'.
An actual skill that takes a long time to learn and can lead to a well paid 'career'.

"Apprentice chip fryer"!....good lord. How on earth have they managed to get away with this nonsense for so long!!? :rotfl:

Completely agree! However for the OP age they'd get min wage and it would get them a qualification (although who knows what an Earth that would be for that job lol). So it wouldn't actually be so bad for them.

Rubbish for anyone younger though, although having said that if they'd otherwise have no job it's better than nothing as it pays, is work experience, a qualification and a reference so better than JSA and "volunteering" (Job Centre forced) full time. Some do pay more than the minimum too. Still, they should all pay more and it should be to learn a proper skill.

    Yep I would
  • Have you taken a quiz to see which career path you might be best trying for? People can tell undecisiveness in an interview as well.

Is there any reason why you need a job mega urgently?

I can't diss your part of the country - it's specialist units for rehab after injury is amazing - can you try for catering if not a people person xx

Many places pay volunteer expenses. You would need to hand in your bus ticket if you have one.

    Stop making excuses.

    Stop making excuses.

I said about expenses paid on the 23rd.

I thought OP had replied to that, but seems not unless parts of this thread have been deleted. Either way OP seems to be picking and choosing which bits they're going to reply to with an excuse and which bits they're just going to ignore.

On the 15th of September in another thread by them I said they should volunteer. They ignored it.

Apprenticeships were pointed out during the same thread and replies stated OP wasn't too old as they believe. Again, ignored.

It's months later and OP has ignored all useful advice and is still complaining they can't find a job.

Noticed they also have a thread that asks what is the minimum they have to do for JSA so while their other threads seem to be saying they're applying for loads and getting nowhere that suggests that's not the case and the other threads clearly show OP isn't doing anything else to help themselves.

I read the OPs other thread. It appears he/she left a work experience placement because he/she did not like it. Beggers cannot be choosers. I would of stuck at it - it was something.
