  • Brilliant results for all the people who've been selling things:T
Wow to the £400 for the phone, Harletquinn:j. What a lovely Mum you have:beer:

Not long back from the funeral where I met an old friend who I haven't seen for 10 years. Last time I saw her she was going through a rough time personally and financially and was desperate for money. I had a good salary then and gave her £200. I knew she'd never be able to pay it back and I didn't want to add to her anxiety about it so made sure she realised it was a no-strings gift. If it helped her I was pleased as she had always been a really good friend and work colleague to me. Neither of us mentioned it since although we haven't had much contact as she moved to the other end of the country.

Long story short, when I saw her today (now really happy and re-married) she insisted on paying me back the £200. I was very embarrassed as we'd agreed at the outset that it wasn't a loan. I just couldn't accept it (useful though it would certainly have been in my financial plight). Strange how our situations have completely reversed:o. We didn't fall out over it today but certainly disagreed strongly:o.

She had to leave the buffet before me as she had a long drive home and when I got home myself there was an envelope on the mat addressed to me with £300 in it. She'd made a detour to come this way so she could pass my house knowing I wouldn't be back yet and refuse it again if we met face to face;). She'd obviously prepared it earlier as there was a 'thank you' card inside the envelope where she'd written that she'd included a bit of interest on the original 'loan' which had been an absolute lifeline at the time and thanked me for being her only true friend when she really needed one.

I feel really bad about taking this money. Not only is the £100 'interest' she added to the original £200 far too much, much more than any interest I'd have gained anywhere else during that time, but I genuinely wanted it to be a gift to her that she'd never have to repay. She was going through hell at that time.

I was/am very touched though, I actually cried when I opened it. OH hadn't seen it so had no idea what I was so emotional about, he just thought I was still upset from the funeral.

Sorry about long post, just had to get it off my chest. OH is useless at a time like this:eek:

Nothing on prolific and screened out of PB BUT got £1.25 on VO today meaning I'm now a mere £1 away from a £15 voucher!

    £227.41 / 310 (11.37 / day)

edit: nope, I'm even closer than that. Sometimes VO takes ages to update and it's v confusing how much you've actually got because there's no records of surveys taken. ANYWAY. I'm at £15.25 so need 25p more since the £15 voucher costs £15.50 which is Very Annoying

    So actually

    £228.16 / 310 (11.41 / day)

I am so pleased carbootcrazy. Karma paying you back for being such a good friend at the time.

Use it how you will and think of it as karma for the friendship you offered at a time when it was needed. Xxx

Brought a tear to my eye reading it.

Dont feel guilty about accepting it. Buy yourself something nice with a bit of the money to remind you of what a genuine friend you are!

Ticking away at surveys today, also preparing some listings which will hopefully be up soon.

As for redeeming some points, swagbucks seems to be more worthwhile when redeeming against amazon vouchers instead of paypal transfers, any thoughts on this?

    Regards :)

Ive been on swagbucks for years and always went for amazon as it seemed the better deal and I have had lots of nice treats and bought loads of stuff I needed over the years.

I changed to paypal last year as I was desperate to buy golden membership on neobux so transferred from paypal to neobux and got my golden when on offer.

My new goal is to start paying bits off my mortgage and thats why I go for cash. As soon as I get it in paypal it will go off the mortgage and then I wont be tempted to use it for anything else.

Carboot that is such a lovely thing to read. I would do exactly the same as u if a friend was experiencing difficulty. It's also lovely that ur friend felt it was time to give it back. That made me smile to know there r real friends in the world and genuinely nice people.
