£5 Pp payment from SB brings me up to £22. Tempted to count the £99 I got for cashing in my premium bonds, but I don't want to hit my target through cheating! ;)

lol, hmmmmm shall we let you add it?

while trying to google who the company is that recycles shoes, I came across this

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:97BhAmIXPEYJ:www.nike.com/us/en_us/c/better-world/reuse-a-shoe+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk

now why don't we do things like this in the UK?

I will have to pop down to the shop tomorrow, it is private business but the stand for shoes is outside, and I know it has a lid with a label on, something recycle, so will take a look and let you all know.

if not, will pop in ask him.
  • Actually - do they still do Premium Bonds ? _ I've gor a lump of money to "Invest" (as a trustee) and everything else seems to be JUNK - That may be the answer to my prob !

Would you not be better 'investing' in accounts that pay regular interest ??

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I know someone who lives in cornwall and she won last year, didn't check and missed out.

I also know of someone from facebook, who did check and claim, but they didn't live in NE.

It happens. same with FreePostcodeLottery. sometimes the random postcodes seem to be in the same area, but Chris is very honest and it is random.

but depending how much of a maths geek you are, nothing is ever really random, as using an alogorithm will never ever make it totally random.

Oh I know. I mean 6-7/10 people are NOT going to be in NE so knowing someone not from NE who won isn't anything special. Still more likely to NOT be NE than to be IN NE, but more likely to be NE than any other single given area.

My point was that someone from NE wins every 3 or 4 days without fail (statistically HIGHLY unlikely), and that the same woman has won 3 times in a little over 2 months (statistically EVEN MORE unlikely).

It's not that they "seem" to be from the same area - I started keeping an eye on it after 5 of the 10(!) were from NE and yup, it really does come up that often consistently. (At least) twice a week.

3 of the last 10 one time could be a statistical anomaly - but it happening consistently since the beginning of November is so unlikely as to be outrageous. Unless of course every single person from NE is registered and other areas only have a single entrant and the stacks are just that skewed.

    (I'm a big stats geek)

EDIT: the postcode lottery, in complete contrast, has had no such consistent grouping when you look at the areas that have come up in that time.

    lol love it geek speak.

she is from NE, Newcastle I believe, so she is probably roping in all her family/friends/friend of a friend/shopkeeper, woman in supermarket etc to sign up as maybe her newsletters are not getting as much interest as she would like.

You could always just email and ask her? did you ever watch her videos where she unveiled the winner?
  • People do have a tendency to see patterns, wher none exist.

No I've never watched her videos. Just email her like "can you please explain why 30-40% of the winners of your daily draw are from the same place as you?"

Funny I thought loads of people from all over were signed up to her site. I've never looked around the rest of it though. Too garish and "busy" for me :rotfl: takes an age to load, as well.

yes, why not, will be interesting to see what percentage of the NE are registered with her site compared to rest of UK, Scotland, Ireland, Wales etc.

I wonder if she has some piece in a local NE paper with some incentive for people to register. I was up there at xmas but inlaws only buy papers, they didn't have any local papers.

worth asking .... hmmm.. wonder if she is on twitter
