    Hmmm - interesting.

So does the postage come out of your sales, or do they pay the postage on top of the price for the books ? at 10p a time, it would be a big parcel, to even cover the postage wouldn't it ?

I wonder what they DO with these cheapies when they actually get them ? Clearly they must make a profit, but how ?

I wondered what they do with the really cheap ones too;). They must have some outlet for them as at least they are willing to pay something for them whereas some titles they just refuse to buy. I've seen some titles for sale by them at a vastly higher price than they pay to buy from us (the more in-demand stuff I mean):(

As for postage costs, it's free for us to send parcels to them. They pay the postage either by courier or Royal Mail so the low price they offer for our goods obviously takes account of that. They're businesses after all not charities but I definitely feel they rip us off:eek:

I've never used Magpie but I've used Zifit several times to sell books and found them to be very efficient. They pay quickly (within a week of posting in my experience).

Before Christmas I went through my books and CDs, comparing the price for each at Zifit and Webuybooks. I found that:

Generally Zifit paid more - for some CDs they were offering 30p where Webuybooks offered only 10p
For some of the paperback fictions, Webuybooks would buy them when Zifit wouldn't.

In conclusion I have 2 parcels, one for each but the Zifit parcel is about twice the size, and three times the value of the WeBuyBooks parcel. However the Oxfam parcel is bigger than the other two put together...

Remember to go via Topcashback for some extra cash, and check for voucher codes (there is a code for 10% extra on Topcashback at the moment).

that is reallyhelpful thank you! I am sorry i didn't see it before! I will investigate webuybooks - I didn't know anyone did buy books!!
I sold a batch of CDs recently and in every case MusicMagpie offered a lot more than anyone else:j. They now pay out by BACS the same day if they receive and check your items early in the day. All together they were very efficient but when I attempted to list a second batch I had one problem after another with the website. I emailed them and they replied that I needed to use a different browser instead of IE (which I'd used with no problems the first time!). As I'd wasted so much time on it already I just set the CDs aside. I'd already sold my best stuff, this lot are very low-value, but will have another go maybe.

I haven't sold anything else to them, just the CDs, so can't comment on prices etc

thanks carbootcrazy (do you do carboots as well?)

I like the BACs payment thing - they sent me a cheque last time.

thanks for the help, that is great :)

  • Please can you put me in for 7.50. I think via some really rough maths that that is my daily interest on the mortgage. Possibly. I am hoping to make 7.50 a day for the full year but we shall see how that goes. Have emailed the bank to see if they have a daily interest rate and if my working out is wrong I will update.

Just joined pine cone and have lots of eBay sales to sort.

    Also survey sites :)

They have to accept you, so if the don't need any of your demographic you don't get in.

I think I've been accepted but not heard anything more so now I'm not sure!! Oh well,

they don't have to accept you but I think recently they have been looking for certain age groups etc. You normally get an email if you are in to tell you that you have been accepted and then have to wait for emails. If you didn't get past registration stage they may not be recruiting your particular group at the moment.

Yes, I do! I love car boot sales (well, most of the time anyway;)). They've been a massive help to me when money was really short (still is:o) and have been a great way to declutter:T

Have run out of anything really interesting and eye-catching to sell and seem to be left with stuff that's been back and forth to umpteen sales already:eek:. No doubt something will turn up in the bowels of the sheds and garage, there are corners that haven't seen a human being in years:rotfl:
