  • Don't know where it's coming from (again) - but I've not done too bad in the last couple of months and some big items remain unsold - so put me down for £15 please Aesop - see if I can find £455 in among the clutter ! :o:o

    Oops ! - That should be £465 - Mmerrry Xmas all :D

Merry Christmas to you, too, Procrastinater:beer:

A lot of us put our challenges and running totals in our signatures at the bottom of our posts. Why not join us?

Good luck with your target:beer:. If past results are anything to go by you'll smash it:j

Sometimes I feel a bit of a fraud CBC - I've got so much "stuff" - from us moving in together and amalgamating two houses full - then OH mum dying and mine having to go into care - we have rooms full of "Inherited stuff" and me being a career hoarder !

Today for the first time in about 4 years the two of us managed to get into the dining room and clear enough space to sit at the table and eat our Xmas dinner with candles and a tablecloth. The table will seat 8 quite happily and it is my ambition to have the kids and their partners around and have a proper meal, before the "Holiday season" is over !

However it does give me quite an "unfair" advantage in the "cashing in" stakes doesn't it ? :o

Yes I see some of you do that - I'll see if I can work out how to put stuff in my "signature"
  • You're not a fraud, Procrastinator, please don't think that:eek:. Everyone's more than welcome to join us in the challenge whatever their circumstances:beer:

We had a similar situation of being cluttered to death by other people's belongings (still are several years down the line actually).

Had OH's Dad's home to dispose of plus my Mum's. This was several years ago, not recently. In both cases, family had their choice of as many pieces as they wanted and the other valuable stuff was sent to auction. Lots was given to charity but there was that huge amount left that no-one seemed to know what to do about:eek:.

Both my brother (plenty of space but living with minimalist modern decor) and OH's sister (moved to a delightful clifftop cottage with views to die for but no spare indoor space) had absolutely no interest in taking any of the stuff. We've got masses of room here (or at least we did have:eek:) and ended up as custodians of so much that has very little value (to us or anyone else) and has been like a millstone round our necks for sooooo long:mad:..

Added to this, OH is a natural-born hoarder anyway:eek: so I can empathise with your situation;). At least your surplus sounds as if it has some value and you are seeing it go on a regular basis:j. Good Luck with getting your space back:beer:
  • Thanks for the support Carbootcrazy. It sounds a lot like our situation, and I'd just skip the lot but somehow I just can't send soemone else's life to the tip. Besides, income is very restricted atm and the sales are paying the interest on the CC plus making some inroads into the principal, so I'm not so much different, except I do have some stuff to sell. (There's masses of half used cleaning products and old Xmas cards and bedding etc as well )

Anyway, we're going to keep it going and we'll get there !

Hello! A determined 'newbie' here, could I please join? We move house in March (due to my husbands job) so I have to leave mine. My husband's wage doesn't quite cover our bills so I have to start getting ready to fill the gap (and start battering our debts)

I think £10 a day is pushing it, so would like to start at £5 a day if that's okay?
EDIT, I have been told by my dad that I have a check for £130 for my birthday, which means the £5 a day is almost already done so I will do the £10 please! (Sorry)

Merry Christmas all, and see you in the new year!

    - Sarah
Very: £965.30 (must be gone by 01/07/16)

Credit Card: £3781.61 (currently interest free)
    Mortgage: £29,410.53 (6 years, 4 months remaining)
    Bed finance: £1450 (interest free)

Hiya - and welcome to the Fred. Everyone's welcome here and good luck for the challenge.

You'll find loads of help and advice in the first few posts, thanks to Aesop, but please feel free to ask if you need/want more info.

now that was confusing lynnejk :o

Seeing as how there IS no green bar !

Then I saw the "Go back to old format" link - so I thought "I wonder..." - & there it was - Thanks for that - I'll look 'em up and get involved :)

    Thanks for your support
  • Hi everyone
Can I be added to the challengers, I want to make £5 a day for the year, I will probably do mine on a cumulative basis as some months will be easier than others.
My 'extra' money will mostly come from surveys and budget savings as don't really have anything to sell or other ways of raising money. I have a few survey sites that are going to pay out at the beginning of January so hopefully will be ok for that month.
    Thank you
    Stressed xxx
Hoping to stick to the challenge this year!!
