Good luck with the moveMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Well we are in, and it is beautiful. Unfortunately though, the new shower leaks into the lounge below, and despite signs of previous water damage, the landlord claims this has never happened before. It is so frustrating that people think they can get money for nothing and now it is at our inconvenience despite having a perfectly functioning shower where we were!
Raarrrrrgggghhhh.
My own tenants are moving in on Monday to a completely redecorated, sparkling clean and fully working flat.

Urgh. We had similar issues - left our house nice and clean, fully working, ship-shape. Estate agents have been a nightmare about it anyway, so we're trying to fire them.
Meanwhile we moved into a house that was not at all clean (landlords left things like half-used toiletries?!), and our shower leaked into the lounge as well. Luckily seems to have been solved with a bit of caulk, and landlords not bothered, but still.... Argh indeed.0 -
Nice to know we're not alone but it really isn't cricket. The landlord has had a plumber in who has done some sealing, I'll just keep on it early on before they get bored the shine wears off.
It is a hive of activity today, in the city overseeing the boiler service, window washing and inside clean. Signing the contract later, looking forward to having some money rolling in.
Bf has some meetings next week about self employment, which kind of scuppers our plans for a joint mortgage but could be a lot more lucrative in the long run. Does anyone know about getting mortgages when self employed? I seem to think it is 3 years of accounts needed?Mortgage Apr 18 £417,894 BTL Mar 18 £162,857

I think it's 2 or 3 - they definitely want full accounts of everything to verify income/taxes/expenses/all that fun stuff. (I never did it myself, but looked into it briefly while I was still self-employed.)0

AGA if it needs a hot oven shove it in the top. Cooler oven in the bottom.
Try not to cook on the hot plates if you are using the oven.0 -
Thanks both, 2 years would be helpful.
So far so good, the hot plates are mostly for cooking washing hanging up. We bought a drier yesterday so that's solved.
Going riding with a friend today, and fence judging tomorrow, have been offered "something" to hack by the old yard. Hopefully borrowed horses sorts me out for a while, I know I said that last time and ended up with My Horse but let's try again....Mortgage Apr 18 £417,894 BTL Mar 18 £162,857

Sorry to hear about hoss Floppy and all the rental issues. Enjoy the ride and fence judging. Lots of events for the weekend have been cancelled here due to the terrible ground conditions.0

Ooopsie, vetting on Thursday for Potential New Hoss.
At least that resolves the situation of my increasing number of current/regular/savings accounts. I am not allowing myself take any more credit applications at all in the next 6 months so we are totally clear for the grown up house so Horse is moving to a new competition yard leaving me without the immediate need to replace the lorry. See, not at all irresponsible.
Shower still leaks into the lounge but we have cushions for the dining chairs, swings and roundabouts.Mortgage Apr 18 £417,894 BTL Mar 18 £162,857
