Happy Yule to LW and anyone else who celebrates it's.
I have lots of people (possibly) coming over for a drink later today and I'm not nearly ready.
Finish clearing and cleaning sitting room
Clean loos and bathroom
Hoover upstairs
Clear and clean hall
Shut door firmly on study
Clean dining room
Clean kitchen and wash floor (will need doing soon as it will take ages to dry)
Make guacamole, hummus (or bean dip if no tinned chickpeas) and chop carrots and cucumber
I had some leftover egg whites yesterday so made meringue but stupidly followed Delia's instructions as I can't currently get to my books and haven't baked for ages. She starts them off at 150, so they're caramelised on the outside. Took them out and they went soft overnight... So am attempting to dry them out now. Any ideas for what to do with overcooked mini meringues to disguise them (maybe ice cream?).
It also means I need to think of something else sweet for tonight to add to the rather uninspiring mince pies (I need to a. Start Making my own pastry And b. get a reliable oven)
And I desperately need to go for a run.0 -
Morning all. You're all up so early this week!
Before some of you disappear for the rest of the week, I'd like to say Happy Christmas to all of you and thanks for the continued support this thread gives.
Righto, so I've been sorting out finances to the end of January this morning as I got paid today. Its not so staff can have money in time for Christmas, its so HR can take the whole bleeding fortnight off.
Next, quick hoover downstairs and sort out washing.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

Slowly getting through the list, pulled a muscle in my back on Sunday, so I am being as careful as I can, but it's still really painful.
Ds3 just got Gammon from freezer for me so that will be cooked up tomorrow.
Managed to get most of the presents wrapped last night, but sent my back into spasm again, so am going to get the kids to wrap the rest of them:)
I am going to get started with the easy stuff this morning, and anything I can't manage will have to be done by OH when he comes round or by the kids:D xNovember NSD's - 70 -
Meringues didn't work out, so I binned them to save wasting more time and effort.
DW emptied and refilled. Breakfast eaten.

I'm going to concentrate on clearing up before I worry about dealing with anymore food.
And if the wind drops I'll go for a run, but I don't want to be squashed by a falling tree...0 -
