  • Morning all. Happy Birthday for yesterday piggers

Welcome :j Hester. This is a wonderfully friendly place like the daily thread. You will fit right in.

Thank you to my lovely secret santa. The scarf drew lots of nice comments yesterday. The diary almost got appropriated my by niece, but thankfully she was distracted and I managed to retrieve it:D

Yesterday went OK. Having put back the lunch until 3pm on request. In-laws arrived about 1455. Grrrr. Turkey was overcooked and I didn't do enough veg or pigs in blankets, but everyone ate plenty I just don't have any soup veg. :rotfl:

Survived the day - PIL still here. Washing up still on-going. I escaped last night for a LONG dog walk in the dark and pouring rain. I think DH worked out I'd had enough.

Turkey being rubberised as we speak. Planning the rest of the turkey (about 1/3 left) and ham leftovers for new year visitors (much more demanding - MY parents! But at least they will be on time.)

Off to an in-law cousins get together in Glasgow after church. Thank heavens for a dog on medication as an excuse to leave. I WILL run this afternoon or I am going to snap at someone, and DH will be the only one left.

    Have a peaceful Sunday all.

Morning ladies - happy belated birthday wishes Pigpen. Hope you had a lovely day.

All things considered, CD & BD went well. Sadly my 104year old grandma has taken a turn for the worst with a horrid chest infection, so my Dad was on call for any bad news via my aunt who is with her in the nursing home. I do hope she doesn't pop off today, as it is the 24th anniversary of my grandad's death and that will just be awful for my dad :( We came home from Sussex late last night, so pretty tired now. Just waiting for an inevitable phone call now.

Flooding seems to be threatening again here - this weather is truly pants. Sorry to hear power cuts and gales are with some of you other flyladies. Here's hoping 2016 will be filled with sunshine, love and laughter rather than rain, pain and stress. Love to all x

Finger crossed for you dizzy and hope the waters don't rise any more. Lots of flooding within a few miles here but we are hillside so tend to affected by wind more than rain.

Peaceful here :) DS is building new lego cars and DD is watching puss in boots. I'm getting the list ready for this week so we can all start the new year feeling organised and virtuous ;)

Me again. I've watered the indoor plants, refilled the vases, washed the breakfast dishes and done 45 minutes in the gym. Trying to get hold hold of DS who lives in York to see if he's affected by the flooding. No reply - probably just still in bed.

  • Morning

Happy birthday for yesterday Pigpen, sorry I missed it. Hope that money turns up if its not too late for that.

I have to pick my parents up from York Railway station today. I was a bit worried about how I was actually going to get there but one or two roads seem to be opening now so I think it will be OK. The rain yesterday was unbelievable here.

Went out for a drink last night, I volunteered to drive. Woke this morning with a thumping headache so have taken some paracetamol and will get a shower in a minute. I must be the only person in the world who gets a hangover when they havent been drinking.

Everyone else is still in bed.

Oh and I need to call at the shops, we have no coffee and right now I could do with some! I will try and resist the temptation to look at sale stuff, I really dont need anything.

Have a good Sunday everyone x

    Afternoon all.

Despite having a good 8 hours sleep I'm still tired today. I can't be bothered going to Mr A and had a brainwave about the bulb blowing. Its now been swapped with the one by the front door which is rarely on ;) That'll tide us over until Tuesday when I'll need to buy more milk & salad stuff and keep me away from the sales for a little longer. All the leftovers have gone, there's just condiments left which can live in the fridge for as long as necessary. I didn't get much in the way of sweets/chocolate this year so they've all gone as well. I've put DD's hamper of goodies in her bedroom until the new year. I have the feeling that this is why I'm so tired, way too much junk food :o On to having salads etc today. Might as well start the healthier eating now.

So far I've made my bed, washed up as much as I could, emptied all the bins, cleaned up the mess around the dogs bowl and put it in to soak in the hottest water I could get out the tap. He's now chasing his treat ball which I've filled with his kibble around the livingroom or playing with his toys. I need to portion up the big bag of kibble which arrived earlier in the week so I'll put a film on to watch while I do that. Apart from that I don't really have any plans for today which is nice for a change :)

Well my CD has finished so its time to find that film to watch

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
  • Just popping in to say hello. Belated happy birthday wishes to Pigpen.

It is a bit damp in York, but we are safe.

The flood barrier failed last night. DD2 is now very grateful they lost a house in April. It is underwater.
    :jFlylady and proud of it:j

Dogs are walked in beautiful sunshine. Waters round here not as high as a couple of years ago. Second of three washloads in the machine, rubbish sorted and put out for collection tomorrow.

Just having lunch (BLT) and will then sort out the floors which are covered in muddy pawprints.

Oh yikes CY a blessing they didn't move there :(

My dad is apparently on his way but my nutty step mother wanted taking into Leeds for shopping in the sales - on the news we are warned to stay away as the Aire has burst its banks too. I can't believe he agreed to drop her off! Routes between Leeds and us are flooded and he's trying several ways in. I've told him they are bonkers for leaving the house and to go home.

Oddly its bright sunshine here and the ground looks dry!

I've been building lego, cleaning the kitchen and making lunch. Online shop done and then updated with forgotten rice crispies

    Think I've got a bit of heartburn - we've over-indulged too nicki x

Wallet turned up thankfully.. in DD1's spare room no one has been in.. the dog got the blame lol

Deposited food at DD1 and DS1's houses then OH's sister rings yo say she is behaving like an idiot so we cant go.. now they are saying 'see how things are in the morning' .. er, no.. I'm not spenbing the day packing to stay at home and have to spend a day unpacking.. I'm not having my time wasted because they can't behave like adults..

I've actually done most of the girls stuff just nothing of mine.. mine is the challenging one to pack.

    DW x2
    WM x2

CY.. bit of a blessing there then!!! My friend escaped Calderdale flooding but was without power for a while.. her car parked down the hill is a write off but her home and family are ok :)
