Just wondering how much you all spend on Xmas booze ? What do you buy, spend and for roughly how many people ?

Probably about £250. Number of people = 6. There will be booze left over....or will there.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

It's just me and my husband, so we've bought a box of wine. We'll have a glass of wine each with lunch on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and a glass of wine each evening. We barely drink throughout the year, so this is a nice little treat, along with the other things we don't do throughout the year, such as turkey, Christmas pudding, cake and chocolates

Some brilliant replies thanks :) Was just wondering how much people spent on Xmas alcohol . Wasn't really anticipating any judgemental posts , as I doubt any of us need to get drunk, to get us through the festive season, although a little tipple is normal in my world

Some people only think of alcohol as getting plastered, throwing up and falling down. Unfortunately, they don't understand that can be about a nice glass of wine enhancing your meal, or a quiet tipple with friends and loved ones at a festive time of year.

But that's their problem, not mine - I tend to ignore the judgemental comments these days

  • We spend a lot. Wine , beer, cava , some decent beers and ales, gin rum. Some for us, some for guests who call by for a Christmas drink.
We stocked up on some of our favourite wines on a recent visit to Feance. Saved a fortune!

We also have cocktails as well over the Christmas period.
Some of you will be horrified at such decadent behaviour:D

Nothing wrong with not drinking , but some of the holier than thou posts on here would be funny if they weren't a bit tragic.
  • OP, haven't answered your question about how much we spend.

I don't think I cost it, to be honest. We just buy what we think we'll want/ need, and take advantage of any offers on. Some stuff is there already, and the spirits we have we brought back from a trip to the canaries.

I've bought some nice Wines and Cava from Aldi recently as well.

Absolute zero. Why does everybody think alcohol is necessary to have a good time?

We don't need alcohol to have a good time. There are drinks we like the taste of and they complement our food nicely.

  • Between the two of us we've got a litre bottle of JD (when it was on offer at £15), a bottle of Absolute (£15), one bottle of wine (not big wine drinkers), two bottles of prosseco left over from our wedding, a bottle of Port and DH gets a pack of 24 beers as his Christmas gift from work. I'll also probably get some booze as a Christmas gift.

We're going to my parents Christmas day and my mum has bought every bottle of booze imaginable, probably about 8 different bottles of spirits.

Why shouldn't I have alcohol to have a good time? I have a massive Christmas dinner, loads of food we never normally buy, decorate a tree, buy presents, it's all part of the fun!

A bottle of Bombay Sapphire (£20)
A bottle of Southern Comfort (£20)
    A bottle of Champagne (£40+)
    2 bottles of white (£12)
A bottle of Port (Free as won one this time! but usually buy one)
Crate of Larger for hubby (£10)
various soft drinks and mixers (£30)

This is for 2 of us (soft drinks for the kids) over Christmas and New Year but will probably last well into next year. We don't get drunk but do enjoy a couple of drinks in the evening while we are off work :) x

I don't need alcohol to have a good time either - I have a great time for the rest of the year without alcohol.

But I like to have a couple of glasses of wine over the festive period, along with all the other things i don't consume normally.

Can we all ensure to keep the festive spirit :xmastree:in mind and be kind to each other? No one here has the right to judge anyone for having a tipple (or not) at Christmas :)

Some do, some don't - and that's ok. No one is harming anyone else:A
