I've got about a gallon of homemade wine, so what's that cost about 50pLiverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Total purchases were 12 x wine (6 x red for here, 3 x red & 3 x white for presents) & 4 x Cava (at least 1 for a present).
Not just for Christmas / New Year - a bottle of wine normally easily lasts a week here though because of the 'festivities' probably 1 wine per day Christmas & 2/3 Cava NYE: the remainder will probably last until the end of Jan.0 -

We have a dozen bottles of wine inc 4 of decent fizz, as well as real ale for OH, fruit cider,s and lager for adult kids, bottle of Bombay, bottle of decent malt whiskey and a random selection of liqueurs and spirits from throughout the year.
Between 5 of us, plus drop in guests, we,ll have a few drinks over the week, but not get smashed, no reason to use the cars - so feet up at home or walk to were we need to go
That sounds similar to us, as am refusing to do the usual NYE scenario this year, as old poochy is terrified of fireworks, n loves to completely wreck the joint if he hears any"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Nothing.. we are happy with each others company we don't need to obliterate our senses

Was just wondering how much people spent on Xmas alcohol . Wasn't really anticipating any judgemental posts , as I doubt any of us need to get drunk, to get us through the festive season, although a little tipple is normal in my world

zilch as I am at my Dds over the 10 day period and as I flit between them and have to drive I just don't drink at all.I may have a glass of vino on Christmas night but I have quite a few bottles in the cupboard that I have won over the year at quiz night and will take some of them to Dds .I do enjoy a G&T but usually in the summer when on holiday and we are all in the garden at the holiday house .I'm not fussed either way I am happy to have a cup of tea really.I prefer to make sure my license is clean and OK as I rely on my car to get around and now my OH is no longer here I am responsible for driving myself .I am always the designated driver when I go out and would never ever get in a car if someone who had been drinking was driving.
I've seen far too many accidents on the road through drink driving Anyway I like life too much to risk it and can enjoy myself just as much without it0 -
Not a lot for home as I am away for it and will spend on new year as were having a party so no doubt that will be a few hundred.0

I'm paying for/making brunch. There will be 12 of us so I'll buy 4 bottles of Prosecco for Bucks Fizz.
In laws are organising Christmas dinner. Mum will bring plenty of bottles of wine and champers and port, in laws always have a big stock of beer, cider, spirits, wine etc. No doubt as it's christmas there will also be brandy, Baileys et cetera.
DDs grandfather used to be head of worldwide distribution for a large drinks company so usually they bring loads of champers, spirits etc which they get for free.
I'm afraid that doesn't answer your question candy girl but thought it might be reassuring to know that you're not the only family who doesn't just sip on tea and water all day0 -
We ALWAYS go to the pub Christmas Day for a couple before dinner. It's a good walk there but always cadge a lift back
Then it's open the wine in doors whilst dinner is finishing cooking, eaten and cleared away
And then perhaps a baileys in the evening ( or three)
It's only baileys that bought esp for Christmas We like a drink most evenings and there is always a wine box on the go here0 -

Yeah, there's a hint of holier than thou posts on here!
We don't drink much, but I picked up a bottle of Ameretto from Aldi and a dinky half bottle of prosecco from Morrisons. Will probably pick up a crate of beer for the boys too.0
