So my sister is having a bout of acute asthma.

I've explained the gp there will have emergency and same day appointment.

I guess I'm just letting off as I'm a worrier and know that it can be terrifying feeling tight chested and it's still a killer.
To 'hunny', she said she's feeling 'less tight' than before and is off to a friends birthday lunch. Clearly an 'urgent' situation right?

12 hours can make such a difference.

You can't really get ar**y with people for not mind reading and not knowing that the situation is apparently not as worrying to you as your first post suggested.

antibiotics take time to work but - steroids are given in high doses to start with and the patient usually feels better almost straight away - then they are 'tailed off'. because you cannot 'suddenly' stop steroids.
I am talking about treatments such as prednisolone. the steroid 'inhalers' are a different matter. they are designed for long term use not to treat 'attacks'.

Actually meri, I know you meant well, but this isn't correct information about oral steroids for asthma exacerbations. There's a reason why medical advice isn't allowed on here!
  • Now you are being rude I am afraid, and you will be PPR before long if you don't reign it in. That is what happens in these parts with alarming regularity.

Wow, its that easy to cure asthma? Who knew...:rotfl:

To be fair to the poster you are replying to, they never said their son was cured. Simply that since he had that done he hasn't suffered from his asthma. I'm pretty sure they aren't going round thinking that he's been cured.

OP, I suffer from asthma myself and have ended up in A&E twice, so I know what a scary condition it is. I hope your sister is on the mend soon.

Eta: Just read the above posts and while I still commend you for being a caring older brother, I'd quit the attitude, it isn't really helping. No need to be rude. :(
  • Person_one has been nothing but sympathetic and helpful I am shocked at the bizarre level of vitriol the OP I aiming at her.

And her comment re acupuncture was not aimed at the OP at all *shrugs in confusion at OP comments*
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Where did I say 'asthma is a total cure for asthma'.
What kind of moron are you? Can you read?
I neither said or advocated acupuncture for anything. Go back to your hole.

Well you are a little poppet of joy, aren't you honey chops?

I do hope Mr Rudey-Pants does not have a patient facing role as a "health professional" In fact I am really hoping you are the photocopier repair man for a doctor's surgery...........

It is because we have all been here so long, our cycles have coincided so we all have PMT together I think. Even the men. :rotfl:
