Not in winters when there's hardly any daylight.

Think you need to check your facts as they have approx 1hour less sunlight than london in dec.
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right

I know. So it gets dark at 3-330 ...that's 'hardly any daylight' in my book when sight seeing :D

Venice is one of my favorite places to visit in winter, in fact having been a few times I'd have to say I'd prefer anytime other than summer to go there.

I'd head to the Alps if I were you. I'm biased living in Zurich, but the ski resorts are in a bit of a panic because of the unseasonably warm weather in Europe. I've even been sunbathing on my balcony here for three days this week.

The first time I went to Salzburg, many years ago, I got a £99 deal for flights and B&B for a week because the snow wasn't good enough for ski-ing. I've probably spent a month there in total and still haven't seen half of what the city has to offer. Also, you can combine it with Munich, or fly into Munich and get the train from the airport into Salzburg. It's worth checking out the flights to the usual ski destinations for some great deals.

Zurich and Geneva are also fascinating cities with lots to do and see.
  • Think I'll shelve Venice for a future romantic vacation :o

I don't think a few days warrants the alps ...too little

I want to book a winter European City break for a few days. I like culture. I've been to Rome,Paris, bruges, Brussels, Copenhagen, dubrovnik, Berlin, Barcelona, palma, Budapest, lisbon & few others.

I'd suggest Istanbul or Seville or Vienna or Valletta or Verona. All have plenty of culture and good restaurants and I'm not aware you've visited any of them before.

I'd also suggest you're a little less curt with those posters who are trying to offer advice.
  • Trieste is an underated city. Very cultural, Venice is fantastic and lovely in winter.
