The issue is though what else will ebay decide is not allowed?
OP has already mentioned the golly issue, what if smehing else completely legitimate is suddenly deemed unacceptable without warning? some sellers were badly affected not only by the golly issue but by the confederate flag issue. What's the next politically incorrect thing that ebay will penalise us for?
I used to deal quite a bit in militaria but a warning for a perfectly innocent German medal put me off selling in that category again.
I also got a warning for listing a German uniform badge, and another for listing a vintage Man From Uncle cap gun According to EBay it looked too realistic
Not sure what the vero rules are about. Any chance of an explanation please ?You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

VERO is all a bit of a mystery to me frankly. I do understand that certain companies own the right to their name- so for instance the Estate of Sir Terry Pratchett 'own' Discworld so I wouldn't go and sell Discworld T shirts that I've printed myself, however I get worried when people apparently trademark names that are common phrases like 'shabby chic' . There are a couple more in the vintage sales categories that will get you a VERO warning, but for the life of me I can't remember what they are.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh, just remembered, about 2 years ago I got done for a small Victorian brass toasting fork - apparently that was an offensive weapon....'toast at dawn' obviously

I'm sure there's a book in here somewhere. The weird world of ebays prohibited items :rotfl:
Edit : Would it be possible to have some kind of thread where people could list what they have received an EBay warning for listing ? Some of these things seem so random, it would be useful to get others experiences. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

I eventually went on to Live Chat and they sorted it, although they didn't know what the problem was either. I came to the conclusion that there were random odd words that are in the system that get rejected.
I had some similar problems with Amazon (they've recently changed it). When sending items for them to fulfill they were making certain items have to be verified as not being hazardous, it was automated so random words set it off. I could usually work out what the word was and amend the title so it didn't set it off..0 -
It's a strange world.
I actually still have the toasting fork here, it's one of those things that I have no idea what to do with so it sits on the side, gets dusted occasionally and just plonked back down again. Maybe the charity shop would like it..although I am obviously worried about carrying an offensive weapon through my local town in order to drop it off :rotfl:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I recently had 2 listing removed because of the duplicate listing rule. My ebay page kept failing to load and I didn't realise that they had listed. Had the 3 golliwogs by enid Blyton removed and a VERO about 7 months ago. can't remember if there was anything else.
how can we check how many listings have been pulled by ebay, how long it counts for and how many more we are allowed before being suspended. I'm worried now. I;ve had an account for 10 years and never had a problem. But with 4 removals in 7 months i'm a bit concerned0 -
