IME they are usually ex customers or have been reported themselves and make a mission out of removing everyone else's breaches.
Just be wary of what you list from now on. Back in the days of the policy strike dashboard, the first breach would last 90 days, the second a year…...:o
The EBay rep did say I could report the other listings, but with over 2500 bread knives on there, I decided life is too short
I don't have a problem with my listings being removed, but I object to the fact that there are so many others on there. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

It's crazy - there are many types of merchandise which seem to be perfectly acceptable except for the few apparently randomly chosen examples they remove, and it's hard to predict what will be picked on. Bread knives tend to be potentially more dangerous than cake knives and far more so than fruit knives, but eBay does not operate on common sense. I once listed a bundle of various branded posh carrier bags (something many people collect), which was removed according to the theory that counterfeiters might use them to increase the perceived authenticity of fake clothes or something.0 -
My electric knife was removed. Can't think it would be classed as dangerous when the lead is only a metre long!0

the two items ive had removed via VERO are still selling in their thousands (and that is no exaggeration) on ebay, the oddest thing is I had about 12 slight variations on the items and only two were removed under VERO. I have obviously removed all the others.
My fear is with VERO being attached to so many different terms and words I could so easily fall foul of it again and get banned. I got done for 'shabby chic' about 5 years ago as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I got caught up in the golly badge fiasco earlier in the year and that was because they changed the rules overnight.
I am seriously concerned about getting banned now as this is now how we make our living. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
You will have to go through your listings carefully.
If you sell anything that is remotely like a knife/weapon then remove it and read the policy to ensure you aren't going to fall over again.
Cutlery is allowed, knives in general aren't.0 -
It's not necessarily the case that someone reported the OPs listings. More likely that the system picked up on certain words in the listings and pulled them automatically.
oP, you should be fine. How long is you listing ban for? Just make sure not to list anything that could be construed as a "weapon" again.0 -
Just spoken with EBay CS and the restriction notice will be on my account for the next 12 months and also shows on my other two accounts. Apparently there are varies stages of restrictions, 3 days, 7 days and 30 days so I seem to be at stage 1
I won't be listing anything like knives or truncheons from now on.You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

The issue is though what else will ebay decide is not allowed?
OP has already mentioned the golly issue, what if smehing else completely legitimate is suddenly deemed unacceptable without warning? some sellers were badly affected not only by the golly issue but by the confederate flag issue. What's the next politically incorrect thing that ebay will penalise us for?
I used to deal quite a bit in militaria but a warning for a perfectly innocent German medal put me off selling in that category again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
