Just general life experience. Approach people in the way you would wish to be approached yourself, be it the police or anybody else. You can't go far wrong being pleasant and co-operative.

You could put yourself in prison, does that count as "going wrong"
The police dont really care if you are guilty or not, they will press ahead if they think there is a chance of obtaining a result.
If they interview you under caution, it is because they want to stick you in prison.
Not because they want to offer you a nice chat, they just need enough to stick you before a jury of sheep.
I do Contracts, all day every day.

Unfortunately I think Mark is spot on. Nothing to do with right, wrong, innocent or guilty. They want a conviction and that's it.

    What a load of rubbish.

You really think most police officers want to risk their job, reputation and freedom to stick random people in prison for no reason?

He didn't say random or no reason, you made it up, I think that's called a "straw man".

Since OP was clearly stunned to discover that most of us thought she was abusing her children, I doubt she'll come back and update us. Pity because I'd like to know that she was getting some support towards building a repertoire of non abusive disciplinary techniques. I'm sure if we knew how old the children were, and what sort of offences called for punishment, we'd have some useful suggestions.
Well, the OP has been busy on the Debate house prices & economy board since last posting on this thread so I think you're probably right.
