We can't decide if we should book it for the week from the airport or a few days but then we have the problem of finding where we have to collect it from.we have the problem of finding where we have to collect it fromdo you buy these on the strip or do you go further afield"Such an enormous country, you realize when you cross it" - Jack Kerouac0

Hi l love reading all your reviews.
We are going for Christmas (the most expensive time l know) and are busy planning (I know it's ages yet but the planning is the best part). We are thinking of hiring a car and wondered if it is best to book one now and if so which company is best? We can't decide if we should book it for the week from the airport or a few days but then we have the problem of finding where we have to collect it from (this is only our 2nd trip).
I have also seen lots of people posting pictures of all the lovely things you buy to bring home eg sweets etc so wondering do you buy these on the strip or do you go further afield.
Sorry for all the questions and many thanks for all your advice.
Carefully check prices, sometimes a week is cheaper than a few days!
Always boom from a uk site since that will include the cdw. You'll get the worst rate with no insurance renting last minute from the desk at the hotel0 -
Handags? Did you happen to notice if they had black totes on sale, like the Jet Set ones?
This was at the outlet mall....and there were black bags....in fact I bought 2 black wristlet/clutch bags, they should of been $99 each so basically I got the 2 for that. They did have a gorgeous black crossover/body bag and there were totes in all colours.I always go twice to the outlet generally the first day we are there and towards the end and first trip was 40% of everything and second trip was 50% off everything !!0 -
Car hire - someone recommended rentalcars.com on here in the past and Ive used them in the past. i think they have 5% quidco just now as well.
Last year we rented from Alamo and collected at the airport on arrival. I find it a bit of a faff if I have to go back to the airport partway through the trip though, so I usually book through rentalcars and collect at Dollar in TI.0 -

Use a comparison site like money supermarket to get the best price. Open another browser and check to see if one of the cash back sites has an offer on with the cheapest brokers.
As said before always book before hand in this country because all of the taxes, fees, and insurance will be included. Also make sure the company you book with offers nill damage excess.
We always pick our car up from TI at the Dollar desk. The hotel picks us up from the airport and we collect the car the next day, I can't be bothered with lugging our bags around on and off a bus directly after a 10 hour flight.
We always have a car for the entire stay. It does probably work out quite expensive usually about £150 or so for 8-10 days but we then have the freedom to travel anywhere we want to at the drop of a hat, and I don't like/trust taxis. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Not Vegas related but off on our hols tomorrow. Busy day today, vote in the referendum, set up watering system for the allotments, take chickens to boarders, Jake Bugg tonite at Serwood Pines, then straight from there to hotel near BHX, should get there about 12:30 then up again at 3:45 to get to the airport at 4:15.
Then onto Venice and 7 day Med cruise followed by a further 3 days relaxing in Venice.
And when we get home there will be NO JETLAG:TThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Has the ESTA application always asked for your employment info and parents' names? I've just done ours and I'm sure I didn't have to fill all that lot out last time.

$ doing fine today.
Husband has just moved spare money (nicely covers essentials – resort free, taxi, food) around, so that we can withdrawal from numerous banks, and jump on tomorrow morning should the referendum go ‘leave’.
We do not go till November, so I am not too bothered about exchanging just yet, but nice to know the essentials would be covered in a period of uncertainty.
