gallygirl-I hope you dont mind my 2 cents worth but IF you are not too experinced at the casino games, blackjack and roulette you mention, some of the uk online casinos offer *freeplay* which you can play and learn for free which may help you learn the games, so again some offer *freeplay* a good learning tool imo.**DONT sign up and give them any bank details**
Im sure some casinos offer lessons/help for people whom may be *newbies*(sorry i am assuming you are newish)

as photome has said above alot of the casinos have minimim/max bets so better to start off small !

and a bit of advice on the slots becareful what stake you bet! its so easy to hit any old button and bet say $10 a go instead of a buck ago so be careful

Not stayed at the trump but i had a little look in and around it and wasn't too inpressed, I dont think it had a casino as photome said.
where are you staying?
Any more questions im sure most of us would be happy to help

Generally speaking the more expensive the hotel the higher the minimum stakes on table games so it may be better to try them out just off Strip (Orleans usually has a good atmosphere at the tables and a free shuttle back to the Strip if you lose your cab fare ;) )

Most do daytime lessons in table games which might be useful too.
Thanks for the advice :). We know how to play roulette and blackjack, we've both played them in casinos and will probably go for red vs black on roulette so at least one of us wins :rotfl:. Good thinking about the more expensive minimums, will do some research on that.

We're using Avios points for the hotel so a bit limited on choice so we're looking at best rated on tripadvisor. I don't want one where you have to go through a casino to get in and out. Not too fussed about being on the strip as long as nearby - we walk a lot so a one mile walk to get onto the strip then a long walk up & down it is fine.

Thanks again.

Could l please ask did you use the local bus to going to the shopping areas. I would like to go to Walmart this time and possibly Town Sq. Last time we only used the bus to go Downtown and back but this time we would like to go a little further. OH would like to go the the Street Rod museum.
Where are you staying? If I know that I can give you exact instructions to the nearest Walmart by bus.

The one we go to most often is Spring Mountain/Rainbow. You get the 203 bus eastbound from beside the fashion show mall. The correct stop is facing TI. It's a fair journey out there, maybe 20 minutes. Ask the driver to let you know when you get to Rainbow. The 203 runs every 30 mins. Not sure of the exact times it runs but I can find out if you need it.

Town Square is serviced by the SDX. That's every 15 minutes from limited stops on the strip and downtown.

I don't know where the street rod place is. If you let me know the address, I can tell you what bus to get.

I accidently went on mse 2012 page....I know crazy....but seeing different names that used to post regularly but haven't been on here in a long time made me wonder whether they still read this post or still go to Vegas.
I sometimes wonder that too.

I'm Facebook friends with a few former regulars and the ones I know who don't post here anymore have had life changes like new families or health issues making it difficult to travel long distances. I expect that may be the reason for others too.

Might be worth checking out Tuscany suites or the Platinum with that criteria.

Not on the list I'm afraid :(

With our points we can have:
Trump
Aria
Planet Hollywood
New York New York
The Linq
Treasure Island
The Westin
Golden Nugget and a host of other cheaper ones.

From that list I'd pick Aria. It is a casino hotel but a lovely one. Don't suppose Vdara is anywhere on your list is it? That's non-gaming and really peaceful with great rooms but it has the advantage of being centrally located with very easy (air-conditioned) access to the strip via Bellagio. I get what you're saying about walking but, depending on when you're going, the searing dry heat can turn a mile walk into an excruciating journey. We usually go in June or July when it's 35 degrees and up - I walk and run a lot at home but still end up staggering along at a snail's pace in Vegas! We still end up walking six/seven miles a day when we're there but plan our routes so as much as poss is inside. Everytime we go we find ourselves surprised that what would be a ten minute dash at home turns into a half hour job in Vegas. Having said that, if you do choose Trump there certainly used to be a free shuttle from the hotel to the Strip.

So excited for my trip in July, staying at Mirage 4 nts , Palazzo 3 nts and Wynn 2 nts.
This will be my 12 th trip , 2nd family trip and I'm just as excited as if it was my first!!!

I look forward to contributing here,

I would post pics but don't know how to! I have them on my phone so if NVH wants to help me out like last time (I've not become anymore tech savvy!) that would be great.
You'd have to do them one-by-one, but go here: http://tinypic.com

Click "choose file", and pick the photo you want to upload

Choose the resize option and pick 800x600

Click upload

After it's uploaded, you'll see a textbox with something that starts with "

I walk a lot too, the problem is that walking in Vegas can get tedious :)

It's on there but a bit more points than we want to use as we want to book our LA hotel on points as well. Having said that, it does look lovely..........hhmmmm. We could pay some cash towards it, but as we're on a 3 week trip with v expensive flights I'm trying to economise SOMEWHERE!

Heat not an issue as we're going in late October. We live in Spain and it was 35 degrees yesterday! Well over 40 in July and August so I know how debilitating it can be.

Thanks.
