    Hi

Got a few questions, if anybody could answer some of them it would be much appreciated.

    2) If you are not somebody that eats masses of food, is it better value to get a sandwich for lunch and dinner? Im guessing US sandwiches will be large
    7) Any good tips for cheap and cheerful brekkie near the Bellagio?

Sorry, only planned to ask a couple and I kept thinking of new ones.

    Thanks

Re. the sarnies. There used to be a store directly across from Harrah's that used to do decent sandwiches that easily was enough for two. I'm talking (for example) a ham and cheese sandwich that was basically 2 slices of cheese and about 5 slices of ham. Think Greggs sarnies in those plastic triangle wrapping but about twice the size. There are plenty of food courts around, myself and DH like the one in the Fashion Mall, and the one in Caesers have some nice food. Even McDonalds are a lot better than over here if you just want fast food.
RE. Breakfast - personally I think breakfast buffets are a bit waste of money. They are ok for the odd visit, but not everyday. Sometimes me and DH walk to a Walgreens (I can't remember if there is one near to Bellagio) and get a apple Danish each and some juice. The Danish's are good value, tasty & filling, and last time we were there a breakfast like that for 2 of us was under $10
    HTH :)

we are complete opposite to that in thinking that breakfast buffets are the best value (not mid strip though)

we head to Orleans or Gold coast or the stations and pay around $7-8 a head, unless its senior day and then half that. All those places do freshly made Omlettes along with your usual buffet offerings, coffee, juice etc, great value IMO

That then keeps us going all day

Only been to Orleans. Based on the price I had zero expectation, but it was excellent.

We are not staying at Orleans this trip, but will be paying a visit one evening. Considering we are staying at MGM Sig and will get a taxi there and back, it shows how much we think of the place and the food.

if you dont mind walking to the Linq you could get the free shuttle, thats a fair walk though

You know, we have never considered going to Orleans or Gold Coast for breakfast (the Gold Coast does a cracking hot dog though), so our experience has always been on the strip. We are going to give one of them a go though when we go in June. Thanks for the suggestions :)
Dh doesn't mind the breakfast buffets, but I just find them pricey and sometimes a bit, well, I don't think they bring out the best in folk IYSWIM. I'd rather go to a little caf! or something.
Tbh, I really missed the Sahara Caravan caf! last time we were there 'cos they used to do a lovely omelette, but the Paris one is quite nice (dustbin lid sized pancakes full of maple syrup)
I think we'll do the Gold Coast breakfast one day, and then go to the Wizard Of Suds and do the laundry. :D

If we are nearby Linq we will use the shuttle. However, we often found we were too far away, not in terms of walking distance, but purely felt it wasted a fair bit of time against the money saved by not getting a taxi.

Cheers for the advice though, it is greatly appreciated.
  • Just on the Linq/Orleans shuttle, is it free to non Orleans guests?

And what time does the morning buffet run at Orleans?

Sounds much better value than the strip. And a nice little bus tour on different roads.

:)Yep....we will be heading "home" for our customary stay at the Orleans next month.I was one who initially hated the idea of buffets when we first started visiting Vegas in 2004.But now we have more than our fair share of buffets, mainly due to Orleans breakfast buffet, and of course freebies from myvegas.
By the time you start with orange juice and coffee, that about covers the $9 cost....all your food is then like free :)

I wasn't aware that the drop off location has changed again.
In the time we have been staying there drop off has changed from
Bills to Ballys to Caesars and now The Link.
Wonder where it will be next year.

It is supposed to be for hotel guests but I haven't known then to check, morning buffet will be something like 7am to 11. Times will be on their website.

Same shuttle goes to Gold Coast so take your pick

Everything is better value off strip, we always have a car though

Lunch buffets are sometimes overlooked, I think...and we've found in the past that if we're planning on a lunch buffet we skip breakfast and end up not wanting dinner, or if we want something it's something relatively light. Lunch is cheaper than dinner and many times have a lot of the same offerings.

With MyVegas freebie lunch buffets we've had some trips where we have ended up skipping some of our must-do restaurants as we just aren't up for eating a proper dinner the days we have a lunch buffet.

Both Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch are excellent MV options, we think.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
