What a disaster this has been for EE.
I still have one of the ones that was recalled last time.
I was abroad at the time of the recall and since I've been back I forgot about returning.
At least EE is proffering a £20 voucher for the bar's return again.0 -
I've got 2, so that should hopefully be 2 vouchers

They never responded to my 2 text messages to apply.
They originally charged for the first text message, but later it disappeared from the account.
I bought a Nokia equivalent on eBay for 99 pence.0 -
The timeline is missing MSE's massive promotion of the offer as free without putting free in quotes. Bit late for MSE to start qualifying 'free' now.

'Free EE £20 power bar mobile charger now seems to be up and running'

'Free mobile charger '
'All EE, Orange and T-Mobile customers with a 30 day, 12 month, 18 month or 24 month mobile, tablet or broadband plan can get a free £20 mobile charger called a “power bar”. Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) mobile customers can also get the deal as long as they've been with EE for at least three months.'
After listening to Martin Lewis, Piers Morgan said: It's a genuine free bonus'
Quoting a price of £20 was also misleading for an item that costs 99p, according to MSE users.0 -
Why do EE want to pay you £20 for something that has been plugged into your phone ?
Why not just say to bin the chargers?
Why would you plug something into your phone that can (potentially) access your phone's data via the same USB charging port, when you are going to have to send that something- in this case a USB charger- back to the company at some point?
Even if EE are squeaky clean who's to say that their preferred means of disposal is?0 -
How do I get my £20 voucher?
When you return your Power Bar to an EE Store you will be given a £20 voucher if you are an eligible EE customer. One of the team there will give you instructions about how to claim your voucher. You’ll be able to redeem your voucher at accessories.ee.co.uk.
http://ee.co.uk/power-bar-recall?wt.mc_id=SMS_EE_E_powerbar_DecSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
Took my charger back to the Sunderland EE store today and was immediately handed a £20 accessory voucher to be redeemed online. Only problem is the prices on their accessories site are so massively inflated i'd only consider buying an item under the £20 mark so i'd get it for free.0

Still good and better than nothing since the bars were essentially free in the first place0 -

They are giving a voucher for £20 (not actual cash) because that's what they claimed they were worth at the beginning of the year. They don't really want to admit they've been lumbered with a pile of cheap Chinese tat that they paid almost nothing for.
It's just a battery and a voltage regulator in a plastic tube. Nobody's trying to steal your data. GCHQ probably know everything about you already anyway. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
