OP I just find you post very odd.
You posted your initial question at 10:52am, within 2 hrs you claim a senior manager had flagged up that the person in question had left work early. In that said time sent to HR and sent home. Also in that said time you were all told that flexi time was now cancelled.
From all the times you were on here reading and posting am I correct in guessing that you were on here outside of your lunchtime? Perhaps you using the net when you'ree being paid to work would be the next thing senoir management runs to your T/L about after all you're either not working our using your companies internet usage for personal matters. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
No one knows why the girl in question was in fact leaving early, who knows what she has got going on in her life so maybe a bit of empathy would be the right thing in this situationWith love, POSR0

As advised, not so much a genuine reason. The reason given was she got 'confused' at how flex worked and as they said there were a number of 'early finishes' so I doubt it was a one off, so I concur likely a warning of some description.
It turns out she was seen a number of times by staff ....but no one wanted to say anything.. so I think she started leaving earlier and earlier thinking no one was noticing. I bet it started leaving 5 mins early.. then 10..
As such the 'overlord' has said that you cant get confused with 9/1730 with a set lunch so we will revert to that.
Duh you say there were 12 of you in the department, was she the only one doing the late shift?
I asked before what sort of flexi?
How did people know she was leaving early? did you all know everyone's start end times?
How did people know that the first in was not turning up late or going home early?
Seems the senior manager in your team was not keep on the flexi either as they messed up sorting it out.0 -
yvonne 13- great point ..
OP - I would HATE to work in your company or with you. What a nasty environment and people.
No idea what business you work in, I guess something very low level where dog eats dog attitude is clearly seen. How awful.
I work flexi hours. Do you even have any idea what flexi hours are? What you described are not even flexi times. Those are set times.
Let me explain to you..
I was due to work 11am - 10pm today. Arrived at work 11:30am, left 8:40pm. I work in a very professional environment and lack of pettiness means nobody even mentions things like that as tomorrow I may work completely different hours (longer/shorter/different)to the ones we planned today. If it is busy. If it is not - another story.
Nobody sits around clock watching for the sake of counting minutes "on the dot". How petty.
Ah... I did not come in at all on Monday. Guess what? I can make those hours up in the week. If I want to. If there is a need. To my 37.5 which is considered full time. Again - no issue
I can come in midday or I can leave midday. Depends on my needs and company needs for m to be here.
Nobody sneaks in or out. We say Hiya when we get in and Bye when we leave. We do not "report" or explain ourselves to our colleagues - we have a "boss" for that.. if there are any issues (hardly).
You were/are not a manager of that person - back off, stay on the net in working hours as you do and then do the pot/kettle ..
Sorry if this shocks you but this is how flexi time works. And as I see here it is not just you who have no idea abot flexi working as some replies on this thread as as bad as your attitude

Not all flexi time works in the way yours does gettingready. How harsh?
Geez, I don't get why people are giving the OP such grief!
For an office that had always stuck to 9am-5.30pm or whatever it was, for them to introduce 'their' form of flexi, which was to still work the same number of hours daily, was clearly a big deal for their management and was introduced on a trust basis.0 -
That is so unfair to the OP, the only person in the wrong is the person not working the hours they are being paid for and being sneaky about it...
Big Woo on your flexi time but your business needs are not the same as everyone else's.... The OP had said the person in question was the last one there, everyone else had gone home she came in later in the morning which to comply with her contract and to be fair to her colleagues she should of stayed, she decided to slope of, obviously hoping she would get away with it...0 -
Wow. Bad day?0

Harsh? Perhaps...but true0
