The 'lass' concerned being one of the 12 of you who've managed to negotiate flexi with your new boss would have been very aware of the consequences of taking the mickey with regards to the new hours system. In which case I do understand why you were both unhappy at having been pretty sure you had seen her and unsure what to do with regards to reporting it or not.
As you said, previous OL was still unsure about the arrangement and DID instantly stop all flexi time so whatever her reasons for leaving early, personal problem, emergency or not, your gut feeling was correct. I would've been in the same dilemma as you in the circumstances you describe.
I remember years ago I was on lunch break and nipped into the town close to work when lo and behold right behind me in her car was another young lady from the office who was currently off sick at the time! She saw my car and slowed right down so that I would drive away from her vehicle. I thought to myself 'okay she'll be back in work tomorrow then'. However, she wasn't!! The cheek! I decided, however, it was none of my business and didn't affect my own work anyway - and if she had seen me and wasn't too ill to be in work after all then she'd be having her own personal panic about whether I'd said anything or not, or would question her on it. And no, she didn't live there and popping out for a prescription or something - although it made me chuckle to think she'd have sat at home thinking of possible scenarios as to why she was out driving where she was! Evil me, yes but nobody got in trouble either way so... :-)0 -
What I don't get it why, when you all knew the flexi time was so fragile, that you all enjoyed it, that anyone had to go running telling tales when you knew what the outcome would be?
Could neither one of you not been adult enough to have approached the lass in question, say she had been seen, and allow her to work out for herself it wasn't on so would be less likely to try it again?
That way she would have known her card was marked so to speak, and flexi time would still be in place
I have had to speak to co workers in the past about swinging the lead - too sick to come into work, but posting up on social media about your lunch out with friends on the same day really isn't on0 -

Seems a strange company that would take flexi time away from everyone after one person left 20 mins early - but has no issue with you posting onto message boards in the middle of the day....0

Actually the person who lost them their flexitime was the employee who broke the rules. Had they behaved correctly there would have been nothing to report!
Don't get me wrong, I understand where you are coming from but I think you are rather overstating it!
No the one who lost you your flexi time is your manager - I absolutely HATE leaders who punish everyone for what one person does.0 -

Perhaps she was sent home on compassionate grounds, rather than disciplinary ones.
I get what the OP is saying about the business, but for a first-time incident I wouldn't be automatically inclined to snitch. It'd be different if it was a regularly repeated thing, but that doesn't appear to be the case here.

The last time I worked flexi time, it was averaged out over calendar months.
If she needed to leave, permission could have been sought and the 20 minutes made up either in one following day or across a series of days.

Snitching on your work colleagues is a disgraceful thing to do and you all now got your just desserts, particularly as the offender may also now lose their job.0
